Old Adsense Ad Codes

Anyone still use them?

I still use the old adsense ad codes as I find it easier to change ads on a particular page rather than across my whole site... I feel I am more in control.

If anyone is still using them... please can you offer me the ad code line for both text and images ads the one goes something like [google_ad_type = "text";] how should it read..

As it has been strongly suggested that I place ads for both text and images by my adsense advisor...

It would be a good idea to have a "manual" or at least a bunch of examples of those old ad codes and exactly what the different options are and can have as values (also knowing what not to use as it was premium publishers only of course).

I still use all the old codes. I tried two of the new ones on my new blogs yet can't seem to get the custom channel part of it working however they work fine with url channels so I'm not that fussed.

That was a quick response... thanks... I did mention to my adsense advisor that this is a better forum for adsense information than the adsense "help" tag and blogs and twitter

This is the best place to come. Avoid Google Groups.

I use the old code too. Much prefer it over the new "improved" code. Easier to manage for me.
Also, sometimes the new code failed to show at all, leaving empty blocks everywhere. (And yes, there are plenty of adverts for my niche).

I wish they had google_ad_type = "text_image_flash"; as an option.

Depends on the individual publisher. If you aren't already running display ads, using AdSense "image ads" might be worth trying. Testing is always better than guesswork.

The last time I manually changed the code from google_ad_type = "text"; to google_ad_type = "text_image"; my CTR went down the toilet.
