My adsense earnings has been like hell for me since Aug. 2008. I used to earn 1250 US monthly (Approx), now I am lucky to get just above a dollar a day. its 28th september and still struggling to bang the target of 100$

over the past six months I’ve noticed a 50% decline in my monthly revenue from Google AdSense it’s disturbing – I’m in India paid in Indian Currency. I’ve googled tech sites and the finger pointing goes to advertisers pulling back on what they would normally pay-per-click since the stock market crash and also Google themselves reducing their rewards to publishers who have websites that aren’t up to their standards (whatever that bi-polar message sends).

Before I started my search I spent countless hours banging my head against the desk here thinking I messed up and require “new codes” to leafing through the endless AdSense admin area looking for tips, news and tweaks and following them like I was a sheep. Still, I login in to my daily earnings near the same time everyday and look at the figure with disgust. I’m offering my site and bandwidth to help expose these businesses and services (many I have never heard of before) to a potential worldwide audience in exchange for pennies; I’m debating pulling all the google ads from my sites rather than feel like slave labour.

I was earning $35 to $50 a day, not a big player but to see that drop to about a $3 almost in just few Months was rather depressing. Nothing lasts forever, and we’re even seeing Google AdSense taking a nose-dive. What Say ?

Can anyone share ther experiance so that I can Stand.

Your figures do not make sense. If you've had a 50% decline in money, then that would make approx 625 USD... but you say you are lucky to get a dollar a day, (approx 31USD p/m)... then later on you say almost 3USD. (approx 93USD p/m)

Can anyone share ther experience so that I can Stand.

I find exercising the leg muscles helps. ;)

The first question would be why did you stick with adsense after a month of that nonsense?

Lots of other ways to make more money than $100/month.

Heck, I have affiliates that pay $90/sale so why would I leave that on my site?

Wasted real estate on your site, wasted time waiting on money you'll never get back, wasted effort on a thread that can't recover your losses.

freaky; We get the idea, even if your numbers were a bit confusing.

Why such a drop in earnings, nobody can say for sure. But you don't seem to be alone, we see comments like yours pretty often in this forum.

Some of it is probably that advertizers in some categories have cut back on spending. Some advertizers may be dropping out altogether.

There's a current thread running about advertizers being dropped by Google.

On the other hand, not everyone is seeing a drop in earnings. In some cases earings per click seem to be going up significantly enough to offset a drop in CTR.

Is it just your overall earnings that are down?
Are your earnings per click down as well?
How about your CTR, is that down a lot also?
How about your traffic, is that down?

Whatever the case, I'm sure it is hard to take that kind of a drop.

Is your traffic mostly Indian?

Why such a drop in earnings, nobody can say for sure.

Economy, ad blindness, more competitors, blah, blah, the list goes on and on. Basically ad revenue will never be like it was in year's past.

Hard to say. My experience goes exactly as the title of the thread.

I had very VERY stable daily-monthly earnings for the years I have with adsense, in fact this year there was an increase until september... september is like I had erased an entire website by accident. Everything is the same, in fact I happen to have a very nice traffic increase but the earnings went down.

No idea why. Besides the usual updates, the last thing I did was blocking some new advertisers promoting spammy religious stuff. Yes, many jokes around the subject come to my mind as if the result was a direct punishment...... well you know :S.

Yes, for me each month since January has been dropping. Now it's approximately 35% of what it was at the start of this year.

greatstart, are you discussing a drop from $10 per day to around $3.50 per day?

Did you fix your issue from January 31st [webmasterworld.com], where you redesigned your site and now show ads below the fold for visitors who aren't using large screens?

Assuming the majority of your traffic is from the U.S. and not India, have you checked to see if there's a display bug happening? Have you tested your site in IE6?

Have you checked all sections of your site to make sure your ads are displaying properly?

Do you have channels for each of your site sections? If so, check the sections that earn the most for your site.

Yes, martinibuster my income has dropped approx. 65% since January, 2009.

I did move the ads up higher on the page so smaller screen monitors can view them above the fold.

I did test my pages using IE6, and it all looks the same as IE7 and Firefox.

The ads are displaying properly on all sections.

Most likely my problem is, the traffic seems to be less targeted since the beginning of this year.

I seem to get less SE traffic then I did a year ago.

I worked my butt off to grow my website this year.

Since Feb, I have double my traffic.

My adsense income, with 100% more traffic, is 20% less than it was in Feb

Im pretty pissed off

Worked this hard for 20% less, yaaaayyyy

jost

Pretty much the situation for many Adsense publishers, I suspect. I have the best traffic ever, income rises proportionately to traffic, and then dips suddenly. Try again, get even more traffic, and the same thing happens.

My only hope now is to wait till the recession is over and advertisers have more money to spend.

It is quite possible that this is due to the recession and low budgets for everyone.

What exactly dropped? CTR? Traffic? Ad inventory? What about targeting?

I'm there too. Whenever I grow up my traffic, my earnings go up only for a little while and then fall down to the previous amount (while having more visitors than before).

Maybe this is an effect of depleting ad budgets and/or retreating advertisers?

It's really strange for me but my website is like finished and earn nothing now dont think if my website will even earn 100$ in next 5 months planing to remove all adsense ads and offer that place to sponsorers there i might earn better then adsense... its hard but true.

Very similar situation for us freaky we used to average around $2.5k / month for the last couple of years but this year it started to decrease like crazy and now we will be lucky to hit the $400-500 / month mark (I started removing adsense coz it would not even pay the server bills if would have let them continue) now adsense is just around 15-20% on the site still keeping them on hopes that things will turn around but it's looking hopeless as every month passes.

The interesting thing I have noticed is that the value of clicks have gone down like crazy seeing a lot of 1 - 2 cents clicks which I outright feel is insulting, used to average around 7-14 cents earlier.

For me earnings started to decline early last summer.

The big factor is CTR - down about 40-50%. EPC up maybe 15%. Visitors down about 8%

This isn't really an adsense question. If you are having problems with getting traffic, then you will have to improve your SEO skills.
Traffic first - Adsense second.

I have used Adsense since 2003. This is the best year I've had. 2005 and 2007 were down a bit, but the increase in 2009 has been faster than any year. What anyone with one or more web site(s) makes (including through Adsense or any other advertising) depends upon so many factors that what is a good month or year for one niche and type of web site vs. another is hard to analyze in a forum thread such as this.
