Over the last couple of days one of my sites is getting huge traffic from China... just wondering if adsense show ads in Chinese? As my earnings have increased a little over the same period.

How do your Analytics stats look for that site? From experience I know that if a page of mine gets a lot of foreign (non-English speaking) visitors the time spent on the page drops to close to zero. Seems like Adsense ads in the visitor's lingo might keep them around (and occupied!) but with such short staying times it seems this isn't the case. Google, you're missing an opportunity here!

Historically

My sites have had for over a decade [via the nature of the various site's content] a whole world wide audience.

Yes, that's true. To the best of my knowledge I've taught, conservatively 25 million people.

If I were a much younger person today I would be working toward slanting my content toward Asia, the only real growth area.

For the younger members here, with "real" sites, with "real content", explore the possibilities of sites catering about your "blue widgets for Asia" and how they would really work in Asia.

A huge, untapped and indeed vast market.

Fools will of course disagree.

[google.com...]

"You can select your site's primary language during the application process. If you're approved, AdSense will serve relevant ads to your pages in the appropriate language, even if your site contains multiple supported languages. "

So did you select the primary language as 'Chinese'.. I think not.. Still in my experience, adSense may serve some Chinese ads.. maybe interest based ads will come to your rescue..

I haven't been to China but I do know this:

My English sites have Spanish ads on them when I view them in Spain.

My Russian site has ads in English when viewed in England and Russian ads when viewed in Russia.

My guess therefore is that your pages will have Chinese ads on them when viewed in China.

I was in China last week, and yes, adsense ads do appear in China, not necessarily in Chinese language but all about China products.

But ofcourse, it's not people only in China who reads China related articles. People in Hongkong, Taiwan, Macau, Singapore also do.
