Our adsense impressions have dropped 40%

minimal changes in traffic and ad code is the same

Something strange is afoot on our sites, our adsense advert impressions have dropped 35-40% account wide yet we are seeing our usual traffic with the same summer time levels we have seen for years.

I checked our sites and code and all are intact, earnings dont seem to be effected either with this. Very strange stuff so I wanted to see if anyone else is seeing the same thing before I bug my rep in the morning.

Also we are not seeing a drop in other ad networks so I think this has to do entirely with adsense. Maybe Google has changed what they consider to be a impression or they are cutting off inventory to certain countries/regions now?

Anyone else seeing less impressions over the last week or so with no changes in traffic?

Hmmm...I'm not sure!

August 1st and 2nd so far have not been very good whatsoever in comparison to the last few weeks for me HOWEVER I was putting this down to the major European holiday getaway period etc.

Monday and Tuesday will confirm better whether I am correct.

Today is about to be the worst day I have had for as long as I can remember.

I've almost given up posting about this crap but today is especially terrible. The world is seriously about to collapse!

There could be a simpler explanation: a reporting glitch.

Was it slow reporting in the end? My earnings ended up being a little lower than target but nothing disastrous.

What about start of Aug, a relatively slow month for ads, plus, an Aug in the worst recession after the Great Depression?

Like signor_john said, it could possibly be a reporting glitch. Do you think it might have something to do with AdBlock Plus and other ad blockers? They seem to be gaining in popularity lately. :(

Especially if earnings haven't been affected, as drall indicated in the original post.

Given a choice between underreported impressions and underreported earnings, I'd go with underreported impressions every time!

Hey fellas, yep it maybe just some type of glitch. Earnings have been actually going up at the same time. No real huge increase in ctr though, just increased earnings and decreased ad impressions.

adsense advert impressions have dropped 35-40%

I have noticed for some time now that individual ads (not ad blocks or page impressions) have been going down. I think this is related to the fact that Google now uses bigger font sizes and can not any longer squeeze four ads into a leaderboard ad block (at a larger font size, this can just carry three ads). At the same time the CTR may go up.

Just thinking aloud.

Tuesday is always my best day but it is more like a Saturday so far (Sat is my worst) at 19.00 BST - so here's hoping there is some sort of reporting glitch!
