I do a bit of part time blogging apart from my routine development projects. The blog gets around 200 visits per day. Because of some popular KPs on IM, JS, CSS, Social media etc. I get those visitors from various search engines Google being the major one.

I used to earn $100 half yearly and was ok with the amount since I don't spend much time and its all free. Last few months I am seeing almost no earning ($5 per month or so) and this happened in the midst of recession. I got no 'warnings' from Google. Now I blog everyday with quality content hoping that things will change. Although I followed all the best practices things haven't changed.

What shall I do now?

IMHO it doesnt matter if you blog everyday did you traffic increase as you are blogging everyday, if your traffic numbers are up then you should start earning a bit more, also social media visitors generally dont convert well.

and this happened in the midst of recession.

A possible explanation would be that the advertisers whose ads you were serving reduced their Adwords budget. (The money comes from advertisers, not Google.)

I got no 'warnings' from Google.

Those advertisers probably didn't warn Google either, so it would have been difficult for Google to pass along a warning to you.

The key to reduced earnings, for us anyway, has been the disappearance of advertising of my main competitors in a very down market.

On the one hand I miss the AS revenue however on the other hand we have less competition in AdWords so we have been able to reduce our spend by more than 30% while maintaining the CTR.
