Can we have a different implimentation behaviour for google adsense? i.e. to display google ads only to users coming from google search and not to the users coming directly for same page.

I think that would be handled entirely by the code on your website.

Or are you asking if that's allowed by the program policy? I think it should be.

I'm just asking, is google allow to implement such thing on site?

I just want to show google ads only for those visitor who come from GOOGLE. By default, there is no ads on web page.

Could this not be considered "cloaking"? In other words, showing one site to Google and another site to other visitors? I was under the impression that was frowned upon...

Actually, you're allowed to put Google ads in ad rotating scripts and/or alternate whatever ads you want to show on the page.

I've run tests with AdSense on the page one time, YPN on the page another time, etc.

Technically, it's not even cloaking exactly because the SE's don't see the ad content, the SEs only see the page content which would only show the AdSense javascript (or not) so I wouldn't really worry about it.

However, why only show the ads to people coming from Google?

What about Yahoo or Live?

Also, many people disable referrers so you may think they're coming direct or from a bookmark and in reality it's someone coming from Google!

Guess the question is, what's the motivation to not show the ads?

This is fine to do. It can be a very good idea as well since AdSense tends to perform very well when users are referred by search engines.

You can also do things like not show ads to logged in users, or reduce the number of ads when users are logged in.

It's fine as long as your source code doesn't call the ad and then not show them to certain users.
