Yep. They need to do something and IMO it should have been done as an emergency maintenance and way before now.

Something is very wrong, for a lot of publishers. Some use adsense to earn a few extra dollars for a beer at the weekend but others earn tens of thousands a month and when their earnings are cut in half suddenly, it can have serious implications.

I have a good friend who would counsel you to NEVER use that expression.

He can spend about an hour or so relating the story of one day in the jungle from awakening soaking wet at dawn and saying that expression all through out the day as he was shot up, blown up etc. etc. He ended the day at around 10 p.m. under close arrest for threatening to shoot his C.O. Only the chaplain and M.O. saved him.

I've never used that expression since Anzac Day, 1972 when the story was told. Seems almost like a "self fulfilling prophesy". I now really believe that!

Probably they are going to fix that error they unconsciously implemented the other day, and probably they are implementing a new error that needs maintenance in a few weeks time.

(That "shrinking eCPM" bug that some here experience will not be fixed though. It works as designed. ;-)

There is no need for ASA to give the HU on these anymore. You get notified when you are logged into your adsense account.

I can't help it that you guys are faster than I am. You're right, though. Saturday, May 16, 10am-2pm PDT (that's 5pm-9pm GMT). You won't be able to log in, but we'll still be tracking your earnings and serving ads to your site.

On a side note, today is my 6 month anniversary on WebmasterWorld. I was hoping for flowers, but I guess you all forgot. :)

I guess that I'm just not looking at it the same way that everyone else is because when these maintenance's are around the 15th of the month, the sooner the "you are scheduled to be sent a payment" shows up.

Probably not this month though. The 23rd arrives on a Saturday and PIPs rarely come on Mondays so we may not see PIP until Tuesday the 26th.

Why does a "scheduled maintenance" send a cold shiver down the spine? Am I just alone in having this feeling?

Usually I'd be worried by schedule maintenance. Not one has SM not been a terrible day for overall earnings and the days that follow suck too.

But as things blow so hard right now, if they get any worse I'll just be replacing google with other networks and I'll finally be done with them.

I'd love to know their objective during these maintenance days. I am quite sure it's to tweak their retarded algo to find new reasons to pay us less per click.

This maintenance will fix all the problems and Adsense eCPM, CTR etc. will be back up to where they were long ago and tomorrow the boards will be filled with nothing but praise for Adsense and how well everyone is doing!

It would be nice to be unbepissed for at least one day out of the month. Lets see if this maintenance will fix things.

Surprise, surprise, it's looking pretty good just 3 minutes after 6pm EDT. It's probably wishful thinking to presume Google finally fixed the "issues" that have been driving us nuts (and our stats down)... but stranger things have happened. Yeah, I spoke too soon - CPM has been shrinking for hours and my new article on mugs that look like upside-down puddings has been displaying ads about toilets for hours now. Nice.
