Some AdLink Ads Disappeared

Code is still there

The text link ads in my sidebar have disappeared on some pages of my site. I was finally able to see something and it showed a

View ads about:

With a search box looking thing below this.

The same code works fine on another site and was working just a day ago. I tried reinserting the code in the source with no luck, just a blank space where the ad should be (but still the right spacing, like it is supposed to be there).

By the way, the only thing I added was a sharethis widget (javascript). Don't know if this would have an effect (it uses an iframe)? But even after removing it once and checking it they were still gone, maybe I'll try again.

Any ideas?
Thanks.

There could be a stop word on your page that is causing it. Happened to me too. (No iframes though).

There are some 'stop words' that will cause ads not to show on your page. Seeing the search box in an Ad Links block is essentially the same thing as a PSA ad in an ad block. It means that AdSense can't or won't display ads for that page. I've seen it happen on pages where there wasn't enough content, I've seen it happen on new pages (where it self corrected after a short time) and I've seen it happen on pages with possibly controversial content.

(And no, there is no official list of stop words)

well, what is interesting is the main text link ads are showing up just fine, it's just the secondary and third ones.

Also if I replace it with a content ad it seems to display just fine.

Thanks.

The only thing I added to the site was:
Bookmark or Share this Page or Site

Do you think this is enough for a stop word? Should I remove this?

Thanks a bunch.

No, I have those.

Do you have any ad blocks on that page, and are they displaying properly?

If the ads work, then it's another issue. I'd try moving the ad links, or giving it 24 hours till the next crawl and see if it works after that.

Thanks for your help netmeg.

I think Google broke something recently. I'm see blank ads as well and they are on units that are set to display alternates. Not much chance of stop words being involved on those pages either.

Just converted a page to show only text ads with PSA's enabled. It's not showing anything. (Yes, I did wait for the ad to become active!)

Something is broken at Google.

If possible, use the old style code and see what happens.

On a slightly different note... recently, if I view my pages offline, I only see PSA adverts for text based adverts, and adlinks are not showing at all.

The old code was giving a very stupid (and irrelevant) flash ad. I changed the code so I could disable graphic ads on those pages.

The probably appears to be fixed now.

yes, everything seems to be normal now. I've disabled the third link unit just in case, so I haven't been able to check that one
