Do you Still use Adsense on Low Paying Niches?

I had this question on my mind a lot today,

Do you still use Adsense on low paying niche sites? By low paying I define this as 20 cents a click or lower.

I guess the good things about Adsense are the ease of use, etc. the ability to get good CTRs, etc. But at what point do you abandon Adsense?

I would definitly think anything at 10 cents a click or lower would definitly not be worth it.

Any thoughts?

Sure, get enough of them and those 5 - 20 cent clicks add up nicely.

Three cent clicks add up when there's hundreds or thousands of them. Heck, even if there's one of them, it's three cents more than I had yesterday.

I don't worry about it.

Yes, but if you can find another program or affiliate program which is paying out higher, wouldn't you make the trade off? I mean, do you still consider three cents a click be worth it?

Maybe, IF the work involved was equal, but that's not the question you asked in your opening post.

well, even at five cents a click or less, without a replacement program, I don't know if I would show ads at all.

I do run other ad networks and affiliate programs; I have a lot of sites. I'm also doing some direct advertising. I don't look at it as an either/or situation.

Do you think that people get too "used" to using Adsense, even on poorer performing sites?

I guess that depends on the other goals of your site, and if you consider displaying ads to be detrimental to those goals. In my case, I really don't have any other goals besides advertising, so given a choice between displaying ads that pay something, and displaying no ads, I will display the ads.

You might find something that pays more per click, but will it get clicks? I've tried affiliate programs that pay a lot more per click than Adsense, but they get so few clicks that it's not worth it to remove adsense.

Depends on CTR. I would rather have 11 clicks at 10cents than one click at $1

I have tried affiliates but in my niche they get fewer clicks than Adsense and most clicks don't convert.

I am averaging about about 2-3 cents / click from the past few month but have a huge site get about 2000 odd clicks /day so its okay.

You have to appreciate the long-term view with AdSense:

Say 10 clicks per day x 0.05 cents average x 365 = $182.50 per annum

Multiply that across 10 pages/sites = $1,825.00 p.a.

Bear in mind your original 0.20 cents is considerably more than many are earning...it's a numbers' game, it just depends how good you are at playing it and IF all you do is rely upon AdSense then you'd better learn it fast:-)

If it's just an additional low income stream or as an assistance to visitors, then that's a different question and answer altogether.

ok, well if you consider it an assitance to visitors, then definitly go for it, and the earnings are a plus ;)

Cheers,
