That's up to you. And still doesn't answer the question.

You can put a description like -

160x600 Ad box on the right of the content page. One of the premium advertising zones to target.

Of course you can be as creative as you want just ensure you don't go overboard.

And yeah, you don't fill the description field with keywords, hell no! but rather you can have an approach like:

This is a 160x600 text only (or image only or both) advertisement that appears on sports pages.

[OR]

This is a 250x250 image only advertisement that appear on top portion of the homepage.

It isn't clear as to what you are to put in the description box. I had no idea if it were to describe the page, the advert sizes, or keywords for that page.

Well I think (but am not sure) that what goes in that description somehow correlates to the categories of sites that the advertisers can choose from when they decide to target.

So, for example, for one of my event sites, I might put in "Michigan, family, events, entertainment" in the description.

But it would be good if we could get some clarification on what should go in that field - perhaps ASA could chime in on this post.

I've shopped the question around to a bunch of folks here and the conclusion seems to be that demographic information and a brief description of the site and/or page are the most useful signals to include in your channel description. You can also include keywords, but demographic info and site/page descriptions are the things advertisers find most useful.
