Yup. These new email notification preferences were created in response to feedback from you guys that we haven't been giving you enough opportunities to hear from us. Until now, you've all been limited in the kinds and formats of information you could sign up to receive by email, so we wanted to give you more options and better control over the email offers you get from us.

If you sign up for all the new categories, you'll be eligible for all kinds of great stuff that I probably shouldn't give too many details on yet. :)

I hate to complain when you guys are actually doing something, but didn't the gist of the recent conversation about 'required changes to the privacy policy' have a large element of 'I didn't get your email - does that mean you aren't rolling out to me yet?' leading to 'email is unreliable, so can we have messages in our reliable console instead, please?'

... and your response is to offer to email us new things?!?!?!

I'm sorry to whine, but this doesn't fit into the category of 'constructive listening' :(
Fine, offer to send us extra junk mail - who knows, some people might like it - but please offer the option of viewing it through the console!

I worked on this feature personally, so I'm willing to answer any email-preferences-related questions in exchange for praise I can show my boss. (I'm kidding of course, but I am happy to answer questions.)
