I'd like to hear about how are you doing with type of ads (only text, or all the others)

I'm thinking text only ads performs better (and that means higher income) instead text and images or even video.

Are you actually using only text?

For those using image ads, how often do you see a call to action in the ads that appear on your site - how often do the ads encourage, motivate, incentivize the visitor to click on the image ad?

For me, it is quality. As others have said, JUST ONE of those "inappropriate" ads is enough. Forever.

I tried AdBrite once, and specifically opted for "no adult" ads. So what is the first thing I see? You got it. AdBrite will never, ever see the light of day on my sites again.

Yes, it's that important. You just can't get it wrong, even once.

Hey everyone,

First post here (after spending hours of reading everyone's useful info and tid-bits).

I started my site 6 months ago in a relatively high paying niche and just put adsense on it two weeks ago (wanted to build valuable traffic before monetizing). From my brief experience with them I have found that putting only 1 adsense unit (skyscraper text unit on my left sidebar) to be working pretty well. The key is putting it just above the fold so that only 1 or 2 of the top ads (out of 5) are showing without scrolling down. This has allowed me to receive between 2-3% CTR, with pretty good CPCs. Hope this helps!

Thanks to everyone for such valuable input!
