I thought I had seen almost everything with AdSense but this one has me baffled, but then again it may be something really silly like a click found from last week and just credited?

They have to manage A LOT of data. You'll see a lot of funny results when you look at small amounts of clicks and impressions. Google just makes sure it all averages out in the end.

I've actually seen stats like that before. They just don't sync everything up at the same time anymore - think about it, they have to update AdSense, AdWords, Analytics across how many gazillion accounts?

Yeserday adding up my totals for each channel and somehow the total was actually +$0.01
I felt like I'd duped Google out of a cent, YES!. But then it struck me, they're gonna realise the $0.01 is missing which will cause another maintenance day next Saturday and I'll lose a few hundred dollars.

I've never seen that in my account, but I've regularly seen something like this:
