How often smart pricing is recalculated

I have a big decision to make about my adsense ad placements.

I have a series of ads on gallery pages, these ads have 10's of millions of impressions per month but very low CTR. It makes sense, because users at this point are still looking for what they want to download.

The download pages have a very high CTR and account for 90% of overall clicks on my site. But the CPC isn't nearly as high as other websites I run, on similar topics. These other sites don't have galleries.

I'd like to experiment and remove the ads from my gallery and see how it effects the CPC of the download pages, however it will mean at the least a 10% reduction in revenue until the smart pricing is recalculated, assuming it even will.

The question is, how long should I leave it before realising that nothing I do is going to effect the sorry state of adsense at the moment?

Any advice or previous experiences would be much appreciated.

I think it's a good experiment to do, even though I think CPC may be lower naturally on gallery pages. And smart pricing is account-wide as far as I know.

I would give it a week (7 days). If it's smart pricing, your CPC will suddenly jump (and not just couple of percents), and not rise slowly.

Cheers for the responses. I've removed the ads from all gallery pages.

Impressions will go down dramatically but overall CTR will go through the roof. Whether it effects CPC, we'll see.
