Google AdSense Exchange Announced

publishers to set prices for their inventory

The display advertising chief of Google, David Rosenblatt, announced the Google AdSense exchange at the IAB conference this week. From what he said, publishers will be able to set their own price for their inventory but he didn't have a lot of details. Nor did he have a launch date.

Anyone know any more ?

This sounds like AdManager. You can set a minimum CPM and run your own ads in the same slot. I guess they're just adding that directly to AdSense.... ?

That makes sense, Swanny, but he explicitly said Adsense Exchange. not an ad manager thing.

That's a stretch to call that an announcement. There's an article on AdWeek [adweek.com] that provides more context for the statement. Rosenblatt is the former CEO of DoubleClick, which Google now owns. DoubleClick offers a service called DoubleClick Advertising Exchange [doubleclick.com].

A keynote at arguably the most important advertising conference of the year isn't an announcement? With all due respect, it's not a stretch. I'm very surprised you would suggest that it is when you looked up the facts yourself.

As you can see from the quote, he called it an Exchange and it is linked to AdSense.

It's definitely not the DoubleClick Ad Exchange known as AdEx which you and I are obviously well aware of. He would not mix his "exchange" metaphors.

This will affect publishers all over this site and nobody knows anything about it. Interesting.

Starting with the username people choose on this site? I just find it funny that you jump all over this news with a name like "adexchanger". I would too if they announced a new koan generator.
