5 years in Adsense

I just realised that I crossed the magic 5 year mark with Adsense. To say it changed my life, my lifestyle and helped those all around me would be an understatement.

I'd love to hark back on the glory eCPM days of 2005-2006, not to mention that Adsense has had a few problems here and there over the years. BUT, I can't think of another company - or thing I have done - that has positively impacted my life so much. [Yeah, I know I sound like an infomercial].

After having Web sites for over a decade now, I have seen a lot of crap out there, including god-awful ad networks, dodgy affiliate companies and other sham's that try to tell you $0.10 CPM is a good price or a CPA network that tries to tell you it is CPM.

Today I ran an 'all time' report, and after getting up to make a coffee while I waited for it to complete, the end result tells a great story. I can see the moments I crossed each goal, each one more adventurous than the last. There was also the sinking feelings that came with sudden drops in earnings. Later I would watch it climb back, and occasionally shoot up - each time it would give me a spring in my step.

I know some people are really down in the dumps about Adsense earnings, but that's part of the ride.

Amazing how time flies, thought I'd run a similar 'All Time' report and realised I've been with Adsense just over 5 years now as well. The resultant graph of date against revenue is certainly an eyeopener - can't believe quite how big the peaks and troughs were over the last few years.

It is an interesting view the 'all time' of any advertising network that you have been with for a while.

I had a look at my google adsense and was shocked to see some of my stats when a few years back I could have tripled my earnings with the traffic.

Now I have mastered getting a decent CPM and click thru rate but don't have the same traffic as back then!

Oh well lets see what happens in the next five years. If google adsense is still here!

I ran some reports based on channels too. It's astounding to think that some pages - and some groups of pages - have generated amazing revenue over their lifetime even though it looks like nothing on a daily basis.
