are people dumb enough?

Nowadays people have become very intelligent. Even non technical people know the methods of ad revenues. What site visitors do is, they see the url in the site ads and they type it in the address bar and reach the target site. they know that if they click on these ads, the site owner earns money. What do u people think about this?

jcmiras, please explain your motivation. What is wrong with the advertiser earning a penny because he referred you to a deal you're interested in? Is it jealousy? I am sorry, but I am finding it exceedingly hard to comprehend why anyone would deny another person profit if it doesn't adversely affect oneself.

Especially when it requires more effort than simply clicking on the ad.

If it's a regional or cultural thing perhaps someone from that region/culture can explain.

I don't think it's a regional or cultural thing. There is no shortage of people right here in the U.S. who have a bad case of class envy, success envy, etc.

I think the OP may have hoped to make a lot of money by circulating his/her website URL to friends/relations and finds to his surprise - no clicks.. so the jump to conclusions.

But then I see that he does not have an adSense account approved yet..

So I really wonder if this behavior is typical of HIM and he projects the same on others.

It has nothing to do with culture. We have websites in India.. portals doing more than USD 1000 a day in adSense. So the regional/cultural thing is not applicable.

As someone mentioned, it is mostly webmasters who act this way. Hardly normal behaviour for a 'normal' person.

I copy and paste AdWords URLs often. Sometimes it's to save the publisher some coin (esp. if I don't intend to buy anything). Other times it's to background check the site (if it seems dodgy).

I am on a Mac and the only I can check out my advertisers is by copying the display URL and pasting it. I am in such a groove with it I do it with out thinking everywhere. I could always start up my old PC and have it go ping and pop and whurrr and have the virus protection take 10 minutes to load just to use the preview tool.

Hey G where is the Mac Preview Tool?

I do this sometimes when I visit a site without any intention to buy anything. But I am a web publisher and I know how it all works. I guess I do it because I wouldn't want people to click my Adwords ads this way either.

I have seen many a times several of my friends searching on the web "unknowingly clicking adsense ads" and me smiling in the back thinking about new website ideas! Woohoo!

The clever users have ad-blocking software, so they do not see the ads anyway.
