OK, I don't spend much time surveying the ads running on my site. But given the typ[es of ads others have been seeing lately I'm taking a peak now and then. So just now I see this ad....

Test
Test Test
www.example.com

Whats with that?

[I substituted "example.com" for the actual domain]

A clever ad by any standards! It stood out for you, probably stands out to others especially curious types.

It would be interesting (I don't have the cash thanks) to see how an ad such as this would perform:

This NOT and ad.
Do not click HERE

Note the URL is invalid!

We actually considered doing this at one point, and i think there are some sectors that it could work very well for, if you were advertising an on the spot purchase, that perhaps people are unlikely to know about, but generally you;re just going to get a lot of traffic that won't convert. When we looked at it it started to remind me of the "get 10000 visitors to your site a day" schemes that re-direct traffic from dead domains.

Maybe for low-barrier lead generation / list building sites it would work. Outside of the oversaturated make-money-online niche, I really can't think of any niche in which this kind of traffic would convert.

Well I found it odd enough that I added it to my competitive filter. I don't think I've added any sites to my filter for a couple years.
