Taking a closer look at my earnings and being surprised.

I don't post a lot in this forum and I was tempted to post in a few of the "my earnings are decreasing" threads however I have decided to start a new thread. So I was worried the last month (in total) I saw a drop of around 30% in revenue (in dollers) this was from highest ever earnings in October now its down to lowest earnings this year.

I decided to look into it a little more and this is what I found:

Ecpm - Down 5$
CTR - Up Slightly
Traffic - Down Slightly

Based on the last 7 days my earnings have dropped around 40% or so from Oct.

So as you can imagine I was crapping it I thought I had lost a lot however I started looking at the exchange rates and I found that the exchange rate was getting better for me (exchanging into £) this was meaning while my earnings in dollers are getting lower the exchange rate was getting better meaning that I was stressing over nothing.

I found that mid this year I made just under as I did last month in dollers however the exchange rate was much better meaning I was a few £k better off even when the earnings in the dollers were lower.

So for me, I was stressing over nothing.

Sterling's depreciation against the US Dollar is the only thing that has kept my AdSense earnings reasonably consistent.

Actually November 2008 has been better for me than November 2007 when some of us were suffering from the Google Glitch at just a tad more than +11% and that's in Dollars therms.

In reality, assuming $1.50 to £1.00, this will mean a +41.5% increase!

It's a long time since I've been able to write that I have earned better than the previous comparable period however there is also the reality that compared to November 2006...oh don't go there HP!

November for me was down from previous months, but that's a seasonal effect I've come to expect.

Considerably UP from Nov. 2007, though, and that's without any exchange rate benefits. Mostly due to improvement in EPC.

november was down 70% for me although my traffic and bounce rates improved recently. i don't know what is happening, but my adsense earnings are going down the drain. good thing adsense is not my main source of income

I got a payment from my largest affiliate partner yesterday, and it was about 60 percent lower than the December 1 payment last year. Compared to that, AdSense is doing pretty well.

I was down 40% since mid October, the same time I updated my Google adsense code. I switched it back to the old adsense code from 2007 and I'm back up in trafic, eCPM, click throughs, everthing.... I tried this because I saw a post about this happening to another site on a differnt forum.

I was down 40% since mid October

That would be a culture shock. At least mine has been a slow progressive, yet continuous spiral down over the last 15 months.

[added] "yet continuous"

I also notice that my earnings were affected, perhaps the fiscal crisis has something to do with it but I was hoping that I would be able to do enough exposure for my site. Unfortunately I did not know anything about SEO or something like that. I hope the economic crisis would be resolved soon :D
