Can ads be made to open in new windows?

While reading the New York Times page today, I clicked on an Adsense ad of interest to me.

A new window open for the website.

When ads are clicked on my site they load in my window, thus I lose the reader.

Is there any way to change this without violating TOS?

Thanks, Rick

No.

Not true. When using Google ad manager you can choose to have the ads opening in a new window. Within the TOS using Google tools.

I stand corrected then. My apologies.

No problem :). I wouldn't recommend the use of Google ad manager solely for this purpose though.

That's 99% of the reason I use AdManager ;-)

I'm considering implementing Ad Manager to enable ads to open in a new window. One person here suggested not to do that, so I am being cautious.

Does anyone have any more input on the subject? Swanny007, how long have you been using Ad Manager for this purpose and have you seen any change in your AdSense stats?

Another question to swanny. Have you actually confirmed that a click actually opens the ad in a new window?

(I'm asking because without actually clicking to see, there's no way of knowing.

also interested in this issue. whereas it might be useful for a few people, i feel no need for extra fuss like ad manager except the "open in new window" thing. i'm pretty sure lots of publishers only consider to use ad manager because of this one feature.

google, let us select "open in new window" for our ad blocks in our regular adsense tool!

I must be missing something. I can't see it in ad manager.

All I see as options are: format; colours; corner styles; alternate ads and channels.
