I am a bit unclear about what kind of advertising of your site is allowed under google adsense TOS.

I run a general affairs community and have been using adsense for the past 3 years there. I am launching some new features on the site and was looking at places where i can advertise the site. Now there is one very high traffic torrent/movie sharing community that has very tempting banner ad offers and a huge userbase that i can tap into if i advertise there. However, since that site's content is not legit(torrents, movie rs link sharing etc), should i go for banner ads from such a site? Point to be noted is that our site is completely legitimate and a general discussion portal.

I wouldn't want to risk my account if such advertising is frowned upon, so hoping for some advice.
TIA.

I think google would be more concerned if you link to those sites, rather than them linking to yours.

If neither the ads, nor the way the ads were set up (eg reciprocals) implied or suggested that your site was promoting illegal activity, then you'd only have problems if a rival tried very hard to make that case (and possibly not even then).

Simply having adverts on another site is unlikely to cause problems. Personally, I'd be happier if the links were javascript or nofollow; I'd avoid direct links.

This is based on a quick scan of the TOS - and I'm no lawyer. Be aware that they are Google's TOS, and their interpretation is what matters, with no right of appeal :(
