There will be maintenance this Saturday, August 23rd, from 10 am - 2 pm PDT. As you will know by now, this is a start time of 1pm in New York, 6pm in London, 10.30pm in New Delhi, and 3am (Sunday) in Sydney.

While you will not be able to access your account during the maintenance, your ad serving and reporting will be unaffected.

Last scheduled maintenance went well over the limit too. This past week has been better than avg. The 10% or so of daily earnings reported, right after the account access came back have an almost double normal CTR, but this is not necessarily an indication of ANYTHING.

Thank goodness for you people and this forum!
I ran here right after Adsense came back up and everyone was having the same problem.
Were it not for this community, I'd have been banging my head against the desk wondering what I did wrong.

I know exactly what you mean sabre...I've had various accounts on webmasterworld (unfortunately I forget usernames over the years) and this forum has helped me in SO many ways. It's all because of the wonderful people involved.

hah - kudos to us!

Okay now I'm scared - adsense just updated as it normally would (every 15 or so minutes..whatever) and the dollar amount went up like it would in 15 or so minutes. No huge barrage of clicks...uhm Ok I'm gonna go out into the real world for a few hours. :p

Reporting at almost 10 PM Eastern time. Stats still stuck as of morning time here on the East coast, in other words, even before the maintenance officially started. And have not updated even after the maintenance officially ended.

I sincerely hope not everyone's is up to date, because mine updated a little but still looks more like noon today, instead of nearly 10pm my time.

makes a little sense

I'm not up to date. I should be at double what my report says. But I'm sure AdSense will either dump or something later tonight.

I just saw my account and earning seems to me OK as compared to an hour ago stats. Approximately 10% earning is still missing from my account.. so this is just my thought may be there are updating database. I would suggest all of you to wait few hours.

Well I'm glad to see my adsense numbers again but I have to point out how ironic it is that I would get a high-paying referral click just when adsense will be discontinuing them!

Why on every maintenance days there were missing stats during those periods?

It's like every page impressions and clicks were not recorded during those time.

I've had two good dumps (the pun, the pun...). My earnings are far better than normal!

Someone pressed the right buttons at the Plex as earnings are great today. Hope this will last (not likely).

I had a pretty good day yesterday. Certainly not typical of a maintenance day.

I'm also having a good day today. Be nice if things kept moving in this direction.

Earnings are sweeter here too. Some maintenence tasks should improve targeting and therefore CTR, I'm glad they finally got to those. :)

I usually get an earnings bump for two-three days after maintenance. It looks like better targeting, but seems to fade back to normal after awhile.

I think you are all suffering from the placebo effect.

And, what is that mean?

...the placebo effect.

Delusions, halucinations, wishful thinking maybe, but I don't think "the placebo effect" works in this instance--not even metaphorically.

If I understand correctly what Scurramunga means, I agree entirely. A placebo is something that has an effect for physcological reasons only. Commonly used in medical testing of drugs.

I've never heard any solid evidence that Google site maintenance has any real effect on a site's ranking or earnings.

But then again, I think back to my 30 years in IT and suddenly realise that any maintenance on even the smallest computer system has a 50 / 50 chance of mucking things up, unintentionally of course. So I retract my agreement with Scurramunga!

The human race is so full of flaws it's amazing that we have got this far. And computer systems highlight those flaws magnificently. The only exception to that is myself of course. I was never responsible for a flawed site maintenance update, it always seemd to be the guy (or gal of course) in the other department. Strange.

Now I'm going back to blame someone else for why 40 pages of my site have disappeared off the face the earth last time I did a simple one line maintenance update to the meta tags. Even a one man band like me can find someone else to blame.

My eCPM is up 15% following this maintenance event.

@ nomis5
Thanks for the though. :)

My CPC and eCPM is relatively stabil before and after maintenance.

I am just curious at my page impressions which drop about 30% on maintenance day.
My sites daily traffic were always stabil for past 6 month.

I think you are all suffering from the placebo effect.

I think this could be exactly whats happening, but not 100% sure. It might be interesting to look back over several updates to see if there is any pattern to changes in earnings and/or other factors, even for just a few days each time. Does anyone have a list of dates (Saturdays) that were maintenance days?

Probably just wasting my time... should be doing some real work.
