One particular series of pages on my website do particularly well. I don't touch them, for fear of screwing it up. The google bot seems ultra sensitive to any changes.
Yesterday I made some changes to a few OTHER pages and today, my eCPM for the page that always does well, is about half. I'm totally confused as to how this could have happened.
Every day, the eCPM always sways slightly but this is massively out of range, perhaps 50% down from usual. The cost per click is what seems to be the issue. I'm being paid 50% less per click than on any other day in the past 6 months. Could this be a coincidence? It seems unlikely.
I'm really worried, as this will pretty much mean a dramatic drop in my Google earnings.
I wish things were not so unstable. The algorythm really does need to be more stable and less hypo-sensitive.
Some times the ads expire, advt budgets change etc which can cause a lot of confusion.
I have learnt that there is no point in trying to figure out what happens if you haven't changes a lot of things, things for me very pretty bad for the last 6 months but are improving now.......... I still find it hard to figure out what triggered the downfall only the Big G knows but what I did during this time was to concentrate on the content part and keep my users happy with fresh content.
