Quality requirements for getting accepted are low. It is a good indication that other sites in that niche carry Adsense ads, so I'd say you can get an Adsense account (esp. if you create unique stuff). You should carefully check whether branded stuff (Simpsons, South Park, etc.) does not violate someones trademarks. Also avoid those brand names like the plague (unless you can take a fight with Viacom, for example).
I am not sure about the revenue potential. This falls mainly into the entertainment/art niche, and that has proven in the past to be not a high earner. Sites that pre-qualify a visitor for some kind of purchase work better in terms of both EPC and CTR. But YMMV. if you have unique content, why not put it up (without Adsense), see whether you can attract some traffic, and then decide how to proceed?
