As to your question, AdSense performs very differently on different types of sites. Static content info sites may do well while a forum on the same topic may not.

I mention that because you mentioned user submitted content (photo).

Beyond that, it seems like you have enough traffic to make it very well worth trying AdSense, you can always remove it if you don't like the results. And trying it is the ONLY way to know how it will perform on your site.

That said, my site is also collector/special-interest auto related and AdSense has performed quite well.

I'd say give it a try and see what happens.

I do not think that anybody will tell you an exact figure because it is impossible to know it. One think is clear, it will not be millions :-)

My advice is just to try it for some month. I started the program in mid 2006 because I want it to have my sites "clean". Now I do not regret it. Maybe I could do it much better but for me is OK and it is just an income that I receive every month for my hobby. In your case it could be from 300$ to 600$, just to say some figures that probably are wrong.

In proportion to my sites then I would expect USD 2,000-2,500 per month however as the others have stated there are so many variables.

If your minimum is $100/month for it to be worthwhile, I'd be surprised if you didn't do that well or better, provided you place the ads appropriately (and I don't mean in people's faces).

But as others have said, you have to try. When I joined in 2003, I put the code up on a small number of pages and was surprised by how well I did. And then added it to more. So you can test it out on a section of the site.

I don't generate that amount of traffic. If I did, using my figures since I started in June 2006, I would assume that I could make $1,500.00 plus a month. I would call that more than pocket change, oh if I only had that much traffic. But then again I wish I could hit the Mega Millions.

Should I join Adsense?

Sure, why wouldn't want to give it a try?

Doesn't cost anything except a few moments of your time.

It's not like you have to make a commitment or pay them a million dollars. It's free to try and use.

Just put it on your site for a month or so and see if it brings in some decent money for you. If not, then take it off.

If really can hit $1000/month only which I don't really expect it, then I can buy a new car for my wife from this easy income. After read so much info from this great forum and others, I decided to give it a try. I just applied and see if I can get the approval.

I have a similar site, with 5,000 to 8,000 impressions daily -- but all informational and no forum. I'd give you a range anywhere from $800 to $1,800 per month, with the fluctuations most of us see. My highest month was about $3,500 in August 2006. Lately I'm averaging in the $1,200 to $1,500 range.

You can count on doing well if you experiment with different ad placements!

Sounds like you have some good supplemental income heading your way. ;-)

...One that I am quite curious is he mentioned that a lot of old timer that make million of dollars from Adsense. He called it MFA. I believe he is one of them too. He bought a new house and new sport car a year back and uploaded his new car pic on my site.

But after I read through a lot of old thread, give me a feeling that they are not so welcome here. I have a long list of those mfa domain names which he given to me.

One of your users suggested you try AdSense and gave you a long list of MFA domain names? That user is very generous. Why do you think he gave you all those domains instead of making money off them himself?

Are you planning to put AdSense on your automotive site or on the MFA domains... or both?

Depending on exactly what you mean by MFA, there are situations where your MFA activities could endanger your entire AdSense account.

I think he was just trying to convince me that I can make more than 1k per month on my site.

I was telling him that who can make that type of money just maintaining a hobby website? I will be rich if I maintain 10 or 20 of them. By then I should be able to quit my full time IT job and hv enough time to maintain 10 or 20 of them. I am dreaming here again...

Anyway, to further convince me, this user gave me a list of domain name which he said it's a MFA. He claimed they are making million dollars from there. I try to search and look at their website. Most of them are no longer there. a few that still there has nothing else just an empty shell website with all ads. If really those site make millions of dollars why most of them are vanished? I am just curious on how they can make this type of money with that simple website.

for your question whether I will put on my site or MFA domains, my answer is I will put on my auto site. Those domains are not owned by me anyway.

my curiosity is if that can make me a million richer, why not give it a try. What do you guys think?

We considered this aspect as well, but there is another thing to consider. Really appropriate ads that have products that will interest your visitors actually add value to a site. Everyone has at some point purchased a publication in order to look at the ads because they actually want to buy and need to check the market and find a seller.

In our niche, we are fortunate and advertisers offering 'learn about blue widgets' (which our users want) crowd out the 'blue widget ringtones' and 'new and second-hand widgets on ebay' (which are annoying and pay peanuts). See what you get.

So give it a try. Discreet, well-placed, relevant advertisements might make you money and help your web community. And you can always bail out if the quality of the advertisments does not meet your expectations. So where's the downside?

daniel88, sounds like your user who told you about MFA site didn't have a very sophisticated understanding of how AdSense works. Sites like that can make a lot of money in a short time, and then crash and burn when they get pushed out of the search engines or found out by AdSense. And it's not as easy to even get them going as it used to be.

But he did you a favor by getting you thinking--and your site is one that could benefit long-term from AdSense. I'm sure I'm only one of many here who can tell you that I've made good money from AdSense for several years now.
