You cannot post your URL here...

And the mods will be doing you a favor if they remove your post since you're breaking the Adsense TOS too.

In your configuration with multiple units per page the individual CTR probably isn't as useful as knowing the PAGE CTR.

the page ctr is around 0.2%

Is this a forum we're talking about?

no it's a dictionary website like dictionary.com or answer.com

It looks like you're doing everything right when it comes to layout. You can look at Google Heatmaps to get a better idea where your reader's eyes will go on the screen.

The low CTR could really just be a function of the type of website your running.

I can't imagine a dictionary site is going to bring a lot of clicks for just random ads and I'm amazed you got as much as you did.

Why do people click ads?

When they're looking to buy stuff most often.

Are you looking to buy something when you're in a dictionary looking up the meaning of "ostentatious"?

well it's not random ads.. all the ads are optimized to the keyword they type.. so basically for this kind of ads, low ctr is normal?

Read incrediBILL's post again. CTR depends on more than how well the ads are targeted.

I understand that, but i think if the ads is totally based on the keyword they search, isn't that targetted?

Thanks

It doesn't matter if they're targeted if the visitor isn't in a buying mood.

Ads sell things, if you're looking for dictionary definitions you aren't looking to buy.

It's always possible to improve your CTR, but I think you're site type is going to have a low CTR regardless.

try image ads.

Or vice versa. If your ads are all images, try giving text ads a shot.

it's currently set to both image and text.. do you think text / images (depending on the site) will perform better than the other?

edyonline: image ads have a higher accidental hit rate

I doubt your CTR will increase much so you should really look at ways to increase your gross traffic

0.2% looks better and better as the number representing 100% increases

I think the CTR is normal... Place yourself in your visitors shoes... How many times have you clicked on an ad when you were looking for the meaning of something?

I think your best option is to try image ads as well...

hmm do you have your site designed to have a lot of pageviews per visitor..because normally thats a good thing ..as it means people will cm back to ur site....

but in this case people are cmin back to ur site and visiting a lot of pages but for a specific purpose in this case its a dictionary site so for that .... but are least interested in the ads as they are regular visitors and didn't cm to ur site through search engine searching for something else....

hope i am making sense
