AdSense and AdWords with the same login - a bad idea?

Hi all,

I am with AdSense for over two years now; I show ads only on one site. Two months ago, I finished my second site and put it online. This second site is totally unrelated with my AdSense site (also in a different language), I do not have any ads on it and I use it to sell products.

I advertise my "products" site using AdWords - I created an AdWords account with the same e-mail address (login) as my AdSense account. The problem is that for about two months, since I also have an AdWords account, my AdSense site is smartpriced into oblivion, with the lowest eCPM I have ever experienced in two years. Coincidence?

Is it possible that the system believes I do arbitrage (advertise my AdSense site using AdWords)? I certainly do not. Bad idea to have the AdSense and Adwords accounts under the same login?

Thanks!

My guess is no, having both accounts doesn't cause smart pricing. Lots of us use AdWords and other ad networks to advertise our sites. Since we have no idea when we're being smart priced, it's impossible to know for sure if there's a connection. But I just don't think they automatically smart price you for advertising on AdWords.

Nope. Adwords has all kinds of algorithms to check for affiliate, low quality and made-for-adsense sites, but I've seen no evidence that adsense has any such algorithms except to display relevant ads

In my experience; your Adwords will be effecting your Adsense EPC.

Seb7, are your circumstances the same as the OP; i.e., are you advertising a site with AdWords that is totally unrelated to the site(s) you have Adsense on?

MyNewPC, both really. I have adsense on a page that I TRY to advertise on adwords. Though I keep trying, I dont its possible to actually make any money this way. Also have adwords on another website which has a link in to this one.

When ever I up the adwords traffic, adsense drops to below 1c a click. I so wish I could show my adsense figures, they are so erratic.

I dont know if Google just automattically lowers the EPC when the adsense finds visits from adwords or maybe its because Google dont like the kind of visitors that adwords delivers to the page.

I've had an AdSense account for maybe four years and an AdWords account for two, and I advertise with AdWords for the site with AdSense, and my EPC is almost double what it was last year. And I'm still only paying < $.05 for my AdWords clicks. So I think the definitive answer is - it depends.
