i asked google about this and they told me it's against the tos (they don't say!) but would google really ban me if i did this, BUT added my own custom "Ads by Google" and make it clear that it is an advertisement from google?
mainly the reason i wanna do this is that i, like everyone else, freakin' HATE the very sharp and underlined default text they use.
i really dont get why us non premium adsense publishers dont get access to the tools the big boys do. why limit us to ugly looking crap? adsense can ruin any layout as it currently stands.
i fully know that this is against the tos, but i am prepared to try it out. google really doesnt ban anywho who makes them money. i have seen thousands of sites that heavily violate the TOS but they are big boys and i even reported them, but the sites are still there and with adsense ads.
google only cares if they have a reason to ban you. as long as you make them money this would be accepted. but if you are worthless in their eyes they will just see this as a good excuse to ban you.
you have been warned, but it works. just dont forget to add your custom text, or else it really is not justifable!

If you're determined to do it, then by all means go ahead. Just don't expect any sympathy when you post the inevitable "I've been banned" post. And when you do post that message, please make sure you include the "I was doing something Google explicitly told me not to do" part.

You've only been a member here for 3 days, and you've started about 10 different rant threads. Have you only been using AdSense for 3 days, or has the pressure been building and building?

if you blatantly break the TOS and get caught you'll get banned, that's about all there is to the story
Like the others said, go for it and teach us all how it is done.
Personally the look doesn't bother me much. If it did, I wouldn't use Google. It's their game and their rules, if I don't like it, I'll play somewhere else

It's up to you... I know if it bothered me I would just Email google and talk to them about possible solutions.
those who say that i should move away from google... like i asked in another thread there probably isn't much of an alternative.
and those who say that i should e-mail google... i have done that many times but they never listen to my advice.
If you shrink the box, ad text will disappear under such conditions. Google surely knows that and surely won't like it!
Personally, the statement 'i have been lurking here for years and used adsense since 2003.' is a bit incongruous with the types of questions asked by jonaspersson75 and the joining date of Feb 18, 2007.
and NO, i am NOT trying to HIDE the fact that they are ADS! please READ my original post! in it, i specifically mention that you MUST add your own "Ads by Google" text, but i made mine centered and not underlined. now it looks just like the premium accounts' google ads.
