I don't know if there is another thread already if so please kindly point me to it..
I was just about to copy my adsense code to include my channel code when i notice a small change. Now you have the date included within the code. This date will be the day you are copying the code from your account. for example

As you can see we now have this **NEW** Line
//2006-09-27: 336 and 280 under d title
I'm quite sure this has a purpose now and potential purpose in the future..
I can only think that this will enable one to monitor accurately a channel's performance but why put the date within the "code"?
In the past, if i created a channel and use it and its doing well. i will know this through the adsense report. WHEN the adsense channel started performing well is debatable... as other changes might affect performance.
Is there anywhere within our adsense accounts that this new change is been used for say reporting purpose?

Lets analysis for a minute here..
1] this new line [ //2006-09-27: 336 and 280 under d title ] relates to the ad_Channel Features
2] we know you use the ad_channel feature to monitor ads units per webpage section, categories on site, different sites and the list goes on..
3] To see how each ad_channel performs you will use either google's report or third party tool to view your stats..
4] Currently, most publishers objective is to find out
-which ad_channel performs well &
-Why an ad_channel performs well
5] I have not read anywhere yet that publishers are more focus on WHEN an ad_channel started performing well.
==To explain this point..say you have a page full of content. You have all the allowable ads units posted on this page.. You notice that there are clicks coming through but you are not sure where on this page or site. So you created ad_channels. After a week you monitor your report and you find out that its the ad unit within your article content thats giving you the highest clicks. Now my question is will you be interested in When you setup that ad_channel that is doing well or when you make changes to the PAGE/SITE/ETc etc that you have posted the ad_channel?.==
6] If the usage of this new line is not apparent now will it be in the FUTURE?
7] i have not heard anything from google or have you?
8] If you copy the ads units code today and its gives you today's date. What date will it give you tomorrow..?
SUmmary : - Either this new line is just simply showing you the DATE you copied the ad_channel codes [NOT WHEN YOU CREATED THE AD_CHANNEL AS THIS CAN BE DIFFERENT] or google has a purpose/usage for this new line but has got there yet hence no announcement from google.
My prediction is that
- Google has a plan/feature in the works for the near future to be release
- Only those publishers using ad_channels will benefit from this feature
- It may have to do with click frauds == To protect the innocent publishers
- There might be ad_channels targetting feature coming out
- ads_channels + smart pricing = instead of penalising a whole page with low cents/click
google penalise a particular ad_channel
well..am not google..just guessing
yes but it might be commented now but may not in the future..
My point is why put a commented line in a code apart from providing useful information. If the information shown to us now is the dates you copied the codes. Then my question is are you interested in the date/day you created an ad_channel or copy a code?
