After 2 months on working on this huge project me and my partner have launched a new image hosting website. It's not just a little cheap script you find online. We actually put a lot of work into this and it has many cool features. Launched it last weekend and we're at 600+ members already...running on 3 servers so far and over 2500 images uploaded.

Now here is where adsense comes in. We are averaging 2000 impressions a day now in just 1 week but only 8 clicks a day. I would think it would be better then that.

Maybe try CPM ads? Sounds like your site's more suitable for the CPM model.

I can relate to your experience. I spent months working on a PHP script that NO ONE uses =\.

We do have two different CPM advertisers on our site. Just wished adsense would pick up.

But, do you show adsense along with the images, or is it on the "upload" part only?

I mean, if I upload an image, will it only be me that sees adsense or will every that see my image see the ads too?

in this case, how do you handle the inappropriate contents?

How are you getting relevant keywords onto the page? User titles? Maybe you could add categories or captions that give AdSense more to sink its teeth into. AdSense teeth, now there's a concept.

...so you have 24 clicks with 2.000 page impressions (8 clicks for 3 advertisers) in an image hosting site. That's a reasonable 1% CTR.
I would be happy with these numbers and don't expect more (at least not much more or even less) in the future (at least in the near future).

Well there is text on all pages, viewers can browse through images and adsense is there too. There is a TOS so people dont upload just whatever they want and we do monitor uploads daily and delete content that doesnt go by with adsense TOS.

Wow, that's some real boring work there Audi. I hope it pays back in the long term.

These type of sites would not return a high CTR or eCPM but as you've already seen, you will be dealing with some high traffic to play with. Once you get it, you can then use this traffic to feed your other ventures and take advantage of the high PageRank this site will have in a year or so.

Congratulations!

At any rate, one week isn't quite enough time to evaluate how successful Adsense will be on your site.

Do you have any text near the images? Like, at least one paragraph?
