I can only guess that my users (guitar forum) are all on summer vacation. Most of my users are older family men. I knew in years past that Aug seemed slow but back then Adsense didn't bring in so much money per month for me to really care. Now I can't miss the decline from a $22 a day average to a $15 a day average.
Anybody else seeing low numbers of pageviews and clicks this month?
The section of my site relative to fine art is firmly linked to the academic calendar. I might as well have completely removed AdSense from those pages during the May-August period, for the small amount of traffic I saw!
Fortunately... the new academic year begins shortly!
I hope you don't think I'm being rude however apart from your index page with AdSense and a load of links to other sites plus your busy forum(s), do you have anything else on the site?
It all depends on who your visitors are.
Exactly. I'm having my best average EPC and eCPM in several months, and total earnings are looking good, too. Why? Because a lot of my readers are starting to plan fall trips, and advertisers are competing to reach those travelers with sales messages.
In late fall and early winter, it'll be a different story, which just goes to show that--to paraphrase Ecclesiastes--"To every Web site there is a season."

I have a bad feeling we'll be seeing a 'I've been booted' thread shortly.
Anyway, like most people my traffic is always way down in July-August, and AdSense revenues are proportionately lower as well. But the interesting thing is that the affiliate programs I use have been doing very well. July was as good as any month since January, and August is shaping up to be as good or even better.
Seems like school traffic and random surfing are down, but if people want to buy something they're still hitting the Net.
There's nothing wrong with the OP's site. I'm not sure why Optirex wrote that, except maybe to suggest that the forum home page should be the same as the domain root page.
Yep, I agree jomaxx, to be honest it looks a bit messy however I would guess that a lot of visitors are bookmark repeats.
I'll also have to guess that most of the clicks are from the forum which, as we all generally agree, are "usually" low paying.
Page views and clicks are way down.
Holidays and a whole host of August related things could be the reason. Most of the pro bands I know have all of August off too. I'd be worried if if were to continue after mid September that it may be ad blindness from regular visitors, that's also another good reason to add further relevant content to the site rather than relying on what exists now.

By anything else on the site... do you mean other than the forum with 550,000 posts and 11,000 members?
The site gets nearly 20 million page views a year. There are about 50 pages of static info that I add to regularly, and around 1000 links, but the main attraction of the site is, and always has been the forums. The bulk (90%)of my Adsense revenue comes from the forums. So, that's what I'm referring to.
For the past 7 years, the domain root was the forum. This has only changed within the past 3 months as I switched from PHPBB to vB. I realize that the index page is pretty lame, but my 8,000 daily visitors seem to go directly to the forum.
I do have a redesign coming on the index page. After doing all the work to import such a huge forum from phpbb to vB I was kind of caught off guard about the need to even create an index page since the forum had been my index page for so many years. I am glad that the forum is not the domain root now though.
It helps that I have a number one Google Ranking in my catagory, and a 6/10 pagerank.
Thanks

On the revenue, my daily $ range from 6 to 12 (just for example). With the average of 9.
Yeah... there is days when the traffic/revenue hit some positive or negative extreme, but I am more concerning on monthly average figures.
This kind of thinking makes me more relax :)
By anything else on the site... do you mean other than the forum with 550,000 posts and 11,000 members?
Yes!
You've questioned the answer to your own solution.
You need more relevant content other than your forum board(s).
Create content.
You're lucky, you have the audience, you have the traffic...there are many here who would like to be in your position!
My main problem with Adsense seems to be eCPM though.
For me it was x in June, 81%x in July and 64.2%x so far in August. It's not possible to increase traffic enough to counteract those large changes. In previous years I have always done better in August than July.
I've no idea why this is happening - poor Adsense targeting, advertisers on holiday and cancelling their budget, advertisers getting scared off by click fraud or less targeted traffic but I know it's a trend I don't want to see continue. At this rate I'll barely make a four figure dollar sum from Adsense this month (albeit supplemented by Chitika and others). Having made nearly double that in December 2005 and on average since then 60% than I will this month through Adsense I'm hoping the current trend will reverse. If it doesn't I'll probably be seriously looking for alternatives. Is YPN available to international publishers yet?
It was fun while it lasted.
you talking about me?
No andrewshim, read the thread...damn...I knew I should've been a teacher!
damn...I knew I should've been a teacher!
no... you were right the first time...
I TOO want to have 550,000 posts and 11,000 members!
btw... if you were a teacher, you could mebbe give your students weekly assignments where they had to log into your site and the information could only be found in the Adsense links.... (I'm sooooo sneaky.....)
ps... in case you're lurking around... that was just a joke ASA!
