Fairly new to AS. What's August typically like for those of you AS veterans out there? Is it still part of the summer slowdown? Or do things ramp up in preparation for the Fall? Anything to watch out for? Do you have any plans for the month ie site upgrades, new content etc?

There's no simple answer. It depends a lot on your topic.

Ok, I'll comment: bleak.

I normally start picking back up at the end of August. When everyone is back to school and vacations are over. September is typically one of my best months.

Like everything else in AdSense, it all depends on your content, your traffic, your topic, advertisers, etc. Some people have lower AS revenue during the summer, while that's the best time for others. Some topics do well during certain times of the year. Some groups of advertisers decrease their spending during some months. How does your traffic compare to other times of the year?

And of course, the recent AdWords change/fiasco throws everythign up in the air.

In short- expect the unexpected!

Last year my August was bettern than July.

I did about 9 percent better in July last year than I did in August, probably because August is a big vacation month in Europe and a lot of my readers were in the country or at the beach. But August was still one of my better months, thanks to readers who planned September and October trips.

In 2005 August was about 29% better for me than July in income, 10% better in eCPM and 7% better in CTR.
Also I had about 10% more pageviews in August 2005 compared to July 2005.

But there was a fairly significant change [webmasterworld.com] in the Adwords system last August. It seems to me that at the time I attributed a good portion of the surge in my August income to that change to some degree.

September 2005 returned to more normal numbers showing what I would think of as normal growth from my July 2005 numbers.

After a miserable June and mediocre July, I'm hoping for an upturn in August as increasingly desperate (and broke) parents hit the net looking for things to do to keep bored offspring amused during the school holidays.

According to an article in one of the weekend newspapers, UK parents will spend more than £1 Billion on entertaining their kids during the six-week vacation :)

Judging from August 1st, I am going to be quite pleased with this month!

August is starting off with a bang dispite google losing several thousand page views on the 31st. I still ended the month about 400 dollars over June. :)

Well August 2nd was a disaster (only 60%) compared with Aug. 1st. Maybe this had something to do with those "missing titles" on various ads?

I hope the problem is fixed! I prefer Aug 1 as my "average" figure for this month instead of Aug 2.

:P

August is when I join the majority of my clicking visitors,
all 3 of them (kidding!), at the beach sipping cool drinks
and spending what's left of July's earnings,
I like August!

August is the worst month (historically) for my money making machines.

So far, it looks as good as June. July was a disaster, the worst month for me.

This depends mainly on the question, will I recover from the June 27th disaster and at what time will I recover.

June 2006 was 60% below June 2005.

All my major income domains heavy filtered in Google.

I just improve a little bit in daily earnings a little bit.

Maybe when the filter is removed from my main domains, I go to a new record, otherwise less than 50% from August 2005.
