Hi All,

After dumping most of my adsense pages last year after dismal returns VS time spent, I decided to give it another go. I've put borderless ads color matched to my site on twelve pages according to the heat map and have been eliminating trash ads. To date these 12 pages are averaging a grand total of 17 cents per day, so based on that if traffic remains the same I would have to develop over 1000 pages to break $20.00 per day.
Now I know some people here have done this, but how does one manage to develop 1000's of pages of content and still find time to eat drink and be merry? I'm lucky if I can put out two or three decent articles a week, at which rate would take over 6 years to crack a thousand ;~)
If anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears.

HI all,

Just quick note, broke three dollars this evening at 10:55 ( $3.02).
The blog is beginning to pull some traffic & clicks, Msn & Yahoo have picked up nearly all the Blog's posts, Google only has the main page listed after dropping the 8 that were listed a week after the blog went online....strange.

That's great news, Lovejoy - well done.

It feels like this thread has been running for a long time but in fact you only started it just two months ago, and I think you've made excellent progress in so brief a time span. Hopefully, what you have achieved so far will motivate you to stay with it and keep pressing forward, because the site may be capable of returning much more than realise. I don't think I would have bet too much on the chances of you taking it to $3 per day within two months, but here we are and you've done it. I think that's great progress, so do stay with it, and also do let us know how it's going. Thanks for the update, and good luck.

1. Congratulations ;)

2. Google does that all the time, do not worry about it. I've had 50 pages drop from google and return 7 days later, it's not quite science.

Good luck on breaking the 5 barrier!

Hi All,

Good news today, google has indexed all of the blogs posts and they are starting to be picked up by other blogs. The blog never pulled more than
50 impressions a day before when it was indexed only by Yahoo,Msn etc. If they only comprise 20% of the market it should be intersting to see what happens now that google has indexed all the pages.....This could be the $5.00 wall starting to crumble ;~)Time to post more articles to the blog and ad some affliate banners.

Hi All, it was so close today! $4.68 for the day. I don't have time to mess with the pages today, my hard drive died on my main computer and I have to reinstall from my back up. Lucky me had most everything backed up to one of my websites ( 100 gigs of space), in the meantime it's like the year 2000 for me, running my old 500 meg machine ;~)

Hi All,

Here is the progress to date in a nutshell. I originally was making 17 cent a day on twelve pages without any sort of optimization, but made $34.54 for the month of August on those same twelve pages after optimizing them for ad placement, keyword and text changes to the pages.

For the month of September using the same method with 62 pages I pulled in $44.78 -the 80/20 effect becoming very clear. I will continue to throw up pages and concentrate on the topics that seem to convert.

The blog experiment has been a downer, it is a very sporadic contributor to my coffee fund, but then it's early days. I suppose any clicks from it are a bonus and I should look at it as a work in progress.

All in all it's been an interesting experiment, I've gone from $3.10 for July to 44.78 for September. The five dollar barrier remains, but now it's only a matter of a week or two ;~)

This has been a great thread to watch. I believe that you are on the right track with a blog, I use Movable type. But the great thing about using a blog is that you can ad articles quickly and have the opportunity to take advantage of the RSS feed instead of a static website that has a lot more tweaking to add articles.

I wish I was raising my income as fast as you but I find that I often reuse content and have thus started using a notebook to capture good article ideas. The 80/20 rule is correct but the higher the quality (You seem to be using good quality your results show) the better the top 20% is bound to be.

An easier way to get traffic but probably more long term and short term not so much money is to post your articles to Digg, Reddit, or Shoutwire. I have seen a lot of traffic from these sources but more importantly a lot of backlinks.

I am really looking forward to seeing how this next month goes for you!

Hi Billnad,

I will do that ( post to Digg & Co), but most of my articles are rather dry and acedemic. It would be pretty hard to get "shouted out" much compared to stories about squirrels attacking people ;~), but then I saw an article there about some Wordpress hacks that had over 500 "Shouts" that I never thought would have been that popular outsided of our circle here @ WebmasterWorld.
