Adsense placement in Joomla

In header/sidebar or within content?

Hey folks,

I'm about ready to launch a new magazine style site to go along with my forum. The siteruns on Joomla, and I have a 728x90 banner space below the header and a 160x600 skyscraper on the left sidebar. The header and sidebar are on every page, and there is a section to the right that will display the content.

Should I display adsense in the header and sidebar, or should I put it in the main content area, embedded into the articles? If it's better to do that, how do I go about automating Joomla so that it inserts my adsense code into every content item? Do I have to do it manually?

I put it right into the content. There is a mambot out there made just for Adsense along with modules too. I had to hack them for my needs, but you might find them useful right out of the box.

There is a mambot you can install that will add adsense in every content item.

Yes I just installed that mambot, but it only allows you to auto insert at the top or bottom of each article.

Not true, Depending on which one you installed, in the settings you can set it so that the code appears wherever you insert the mambot code in your article. Poke around some more and you'll see it. I don't remember it if off hand.

Yes I can put the tag wherever I want in the article, but then I have to insert the tag into each article.... It would be better if it would just insert it automatically into all content items, but the "auto ad" feature only offers placement at the top or bottom of the content.

The one I use is a modules as opposed to a mambot, and allows you to place ads automatically without having to manually insert the "mosgoogle" tag. It's "set and forget". It's also "clicksafe" so you can ban your own (or anyone else's) IP so you can't accidentally click your ads.
