Next big hit started yesterday. Again -50% so far.

Yes, February is turning for worse again.

Interesting observation - Core web vitals (or whatever it's called) number of total pages included has taken a sharp nosedive after 4th. There seem to be some correlation - the more pages are included in this survey, the better you generally rank.

My Top3 rankings are bleeding again, after slowly creeping up for several weeks (they are still way down compared to "peak Google" in summer of 2024). My low end rankings 50+ just continue to endlessly vanish - don't care, those don't contribute to any traffic anyway.

Overall, seems like changes Google has been making since Summer are reliably bad and not well thought out.

On a very slight positive note - my Bing traffic is at record levels. Still very small but almost at that point where I can no longer call it "inconsequential".

We are slowly become stupid

Slowly? I literally could not give directions to my house the other day. Owned it for 30 years and could not tell someone how to get there.

I think Barry mentioned a report showing the AI overviews on google were negatively affecting the CTRs on organic AND ads in the SERPs. You can bet that if the ad revenue get hurt by the AI overviews they will be eliminated.

@Treud
And if #*$! in, it’s #*$! out !

Absolutely and unfortunately most of the errors I am seeing are emanating from US sites in MY specialist sector. In many cases I'm pretty sure it's not deliberate but incorrect information that has circulated for years and which now appears on websites as widget information.

To become reliable AI creators need easy feedback forms to quickly correct these mistakes.

All my tools says most of my competitors are down 10-60% this past week. Most didn't have that to lose...

The squeeze continues.

After relocating to Thailand (and believe me, if your online income is dwindling, you should consider it), the cost of living here is practically laughable compared to the UK. And the women? Well, if you ever get dumped, there's always another one waiting for you the very next day, as if they were produced on an assembly line. Just kidding, of course; I'm stuck with my long-term British girlfriend lol.

On a more serious note, I recently befriended a botanist here who has discovered and scientifically described several local plants. He even set up a website to share his research, the only place where you can access this information without the hassle of a login, unlike the academic journals he published in. But then Google decided to join the party. They gobbled up his original content and now showcase their AI-generated summaries above his own work. Yes, apparently the AI is considered to know more than the person who actually did the research!

Understandably, he has now stopped updating his site. Sure, it would be infuriating if a random website stole your work and outranked you, but when it is Google itself rehashing and spinning your original content and taking all the credit, it becomes a whole different level of absurdity. The incentives to share and enrich our collective knowledge are disappearing fast. And keep in mind, he never even monetized his work, he simply wanted to share his discoveries and be credited as the true source. Isn't that a wonderfully tragic state of affairs?

Remember, Google's CEO promised big changes to search in 2025 and their theft of content is likely at the top of that list.

Is google going completely crazy now? The store has 0 visitors from Google today, even the news page is almost at a standstill. Other website owners I have just spoken to are also reporting a massive drop in traffic today.

The traffic was quite high today, but mostly one page hits, none converting zombie junk.

Must be accidental clicks. The IPs and other device/browser headers appear to be valid.

Today is better for me, didn’t do anything special, just adding a new collection of products. But it was just a few days ago so too short to have an impact on SERP, they must start to change something.
But better traffic doesn’t mean more inquiries ….

Terrible traffic today...not sure if because of Google or the superbowl. But traffic is way down internationally so I suspect it's more Google. Interesting how since Google started this latest crap I went from steady daily inquiries to not one single new inquiry in four days. Same sh!t, different day...

Yikes, dire this morning, I'm 30 minutes off my first 12 hours of a googleday and at 20% of average whereas I would nomally be at about the 50% level ... It's all gone pear-shaped again.

Quite simply G has turned into a pile of manure.

I don’t even look at SEO or positioning anymore. It’s a waste of time. I just focus on building my community and promoting my websites via Google Ads and Social Media.

some things are not completely clear in the understanding of physics and, especially quantum physics, without that knowledge there would never be a quantum computer, so phrases about the parallel universe to normal people seem stupid, neither are these things completely clear to scientists, nor is quantum entanglement, but there is one good thing, and that is that new artificial intelligence sprouts like mushrooms after rain and they are still very good, this will shake up the monopolists and put them in a different position

The terrible traffic continues...today USA is -38% at 4pm compared to an average Monday, that's a huge drop. It seems that it's mostly USA lagging today. This might mean that by tomorrow things snap back to normal...at least that has been the pattern so far in 2025

Good for you, you can give them some advice because they still do not know how make quantum computers stable, it is still in developing mode
I think they need some help, I can not help them
I hope they will not finnish like a CERN

Traffic remains underground. I'm beginning to fear that Google now wants to wipe out all the other small sites that weren't caught by the HCU update back then.

This is a brief analysis I presented to my company board and IT dept this morning for their digestion to help them try and comprehend all the current inconsistent search engines, yes, engines.

From week 1 2024 my global traffic was pretty consistent until the end of week 43 2024.

Week 44 2024 saw my first substantial drop and this continued at a new much lower level through until the end of week 2 2025.

Weeks 3, 4, 5 and 6 2025 saw traffic back to weeks 1 to 43 2024.

We are now in week 7 and I am back to the traffic levels of week 44 2024 though to week 2 2025.

What on earth is going on with G, has it lost complete control of its algo to its supposed AI?

I have decades of data and have never seen such sharp fluctuations over an extended period, a few days yes but not only weeks but turning into months for it to seemingly rectify itself for 4 weeks and then reverse itself again.

This manipulation is not only frustrating and bizarre but it will start to lose G users since it becomes very evident that it cannot be relied upon for information.

Lastly, BTW I am not saying that any other SE is any better and my old favourite DDG is so out-of-date, and many-a-time so slow, that it is becoming even worse than G.

US traffic ended up -17% yesterday, and UK was -3%. India was down 30%. Today USA traffic is still suppressed...-60% so far to start the day. Yet my site is gaining ground in the SERPS!

Higher ranking, but much lower traffic...where have we seen this movie before? Google is squeezing us all for revenue again. I have had zero new inquires since this started again ~ five days ago.
