Hi all,
We are thinking about merging two websites. As these sites are our main business, we want to take a careful approach. Perhaps this community could give us some thoughts about whether to proceed or keep the websites separate.
The first website has a premium domainname which we acquired last year i.e."widgetinsurance.com". This website already ranks nr 1 for "widget insurance" in the SERPS, mainly because we have put in a 301 from another domain "widgetinsurances.com" which has some good backlinks. But besides that not much ranking yet.
The second website is a trusted old domain with a stronger backlink profile i.e. "sprocketquotes.com" which ranks well on longtail widget insurance keywords in the SERPS.
Both websites have rather common site structure, so if we decide to merge "sprocketquotes.com" with "widgetinsurance.com" most pages can be 301 redirected to an equivalent page of "widgetinsurance.com".
Should we move on and merge the websites or is a separate approach better?
Thanks in advance,
WebFox
