Hi so if I have to update my sitemap file in Google Search console, should I just re-submit the url (example.com/sitemap.xml) again into the sitemap section of GSC? Please advise. Thanks!

Our website is setup to ping Google (and others like Bing) every time it updates the sitemap.xml file with new or updated content.

I assume Google regularly checks this file for changes but you can do a manual ping if you want. For instructions see: [stackoverflow.com...]

Even if you do nothing, Google will re-request the sitemap periodically. On my small site, they ask every 10 days or so (3x a month), so presumably much more often on bigger sites.

Caution: Removing material from the sitemap doesn't mean Google will stop requesting it, or forget it ever knew about it. Sitemaps don't work that way.
