Hello,

I just noticed that from my GSC - Search Traffic - "Links to your site" section just wiped and i have "No Data available" . Yesterday i had huge list of websites, for some reason it's wiped and i don't have any idea why ?

P.s. I updated Disavow file yesterday, can this be related ? I never noticed this before

thanks

Yes, I would assume your backlinks are being reevaluated due to your Disavow file submission. Regardless, I would not pay too much attention to the reports in GSC as they are buggy a lot of the time.

I'm seeing this too. I don't use disavow.

Same here, as of this morning. I do have a disavow file but I have not touched it in since November of last year.

I saw this last night and wondered what I had done wrong!

Ah then it looks like it's systemic. Other GSC tools have done this in the past.

Reported by Search Engine Roundtable this morning....

Confirmed: Google Search Console Link Data Bug - No Data Available
Apr 10, 2017 - by Barry Schwartz
[seroundtable.com...]

It's a reporting bug, which as Barry points out, "happens not too infrequently."

Thanks, Barry.

So, you think it's based on Tool (GSE) and not website? Why in that case some of our websites have this data (same GSE account), some of them - not ?

The bug is with the tool, without question. But this does not mean that the bug affects all websites, it clearly effects only some. Which ones and why? Your guess is as good as any.

It's affecting my sites as well. My primary company's disavow file I updated January 6th.

My other clients are various times in late 2016.

GSC has been a very weak tool for some time now... I check mine occasionally just to see what's happening but there better resources to check the status of your website. GSC is not a priority for Google.

GSC is not a priority for Google.
And you know this how?

The *reports* are sometimes buggy, but GSC is upgraded with new or enhanced features and Google webmaster groups refer to it often.

GSC is relatively weak as an Analytics tool compared to GA (until you utilize it in Google Sheets)

But with Link Disavowal, Fetch/Remove, Crawl Errors, Links to your Site, Manual Actions, etc - it's too essential

IMO GA is also weak as an analytics tool. Loads of false numbers and it misses too much info. I roll my own reports from server logs. That's the only way to get an accurate report of who/what did what/when.

You're absolutely right. Too much work is required with Google Sheets in order to get anywhere on the (not set) / (not provided) front.

You can't get any better than the direct server logs, but I would like to know if more accurate tools exist than GA. Someone once told me to try Adobe Marketing Cloud Analytics - any words?

My links are back now. A few less than before but nothing of concern.

Observation and comparison...

The *reports* are sometimes buggy, but GSC is upgraded with new or enhanced features.
No kidding and so what..

and Google webmaster groups refer to it often
Are you saying on Google properties they don't mention other webmaster tools? Sounds correct to me.

Have you or "Google webmaster groups" ever tried Bing Webmaster Tools? More data about your website, deeper search data and SEO reports are awesome. If you need to find broken pages, missing header data, broken links, etc it's there and updated regular.. Search Keywords? Deep data and updated regular. It's like comparing apples and elephants.

I rank GSC at about 3 and Bing webmaster tools at 8 out of ten. There are are other tools way more useful than GSC - figure it out on your own..

But with Link Disavowal, Fetch/Remove, Crawl Errors, Links to your Site, Manual Actions, etc - it's too essential
Crawl error report is adequate, link disavow - I've tried and can't verify it did me any good.. Links to my site - Yawn.... Manual actions - never had one, but I check just in case.
