We've had structured data for our reviews in Google results for years. Back when we implemented, we were one of the first to do so... documentation on schema.org was sketchy (still is hard to figure out actually at times) but Google crawled and displayed our review data correctly for years.
Apparently, Google has gotten more strict. And about 6 weeks ago - we think it was right after our site-wide move to HTTPS - our review data stopped showing in Google results completely. We only started noticing it over the last few weeks. We hustled to look into it and found that the code on our product pages wasn't done correctly and was throwing some errors when we tried to validate it using Google's new validation tools.
We thought we were not being shown because Google was getting more strict. We fixed the issues and have been watching Google recrawl and reindex everything. We were encouraged at first. When we do a search with the site: command we can see our reviews data is showing up. But for any product searches, our results will not show review data (even when we are in a top 5 position).
Summary:
Query-> site:mysite.com product name
Shows-> Structured data in results properly and accurately
Query-> product name
Shows-> No structured data for our site (even though we are high in the results and have tons of verified reviews from customers).
We can't find one single result for one single product where our reviews actually show up with structured data reviews in the results. And we've checked a lot. It's been a few weeks since we fixed everything. Showing up well in site: SERPS, but not for ones that matter.
We have read about this some and know that if Google doesn't see your site as high enough authority or if it has panda issues or whatever... it will not show reviews. But our reviews were showing up before now that we've fixed the validation issues, we expected then to resume.
Does anyone have any recommendations for things we could try to get them to show up again? There are some scenarios where we have over 100 reviews for a product from actual verified buyers of the product... and some other site will have 5 reviews and will actually show their structured data in the SERPS.
Any thoughts? I feel like I must be missing something.
