This is worth a read: Google has published a help document for Search Console explaining what are impressions, position and clicks.

Most of the documents are going to be updated as it will start to reflect the increasing AMP pages.

Read the document, it'll help everyone understand what Google interprets in the Search Console.

This is really important. I bet most webmasters don't know this information.

For example, raise your hand if you knew that Google does not consider the content in the upper right corner (aka knowledge box) of the serp as having a a high search result position. Even though it is on top of the page it has a very low search result position.
