Revisit After Meta tag

Hi, in my website I noticed that it has the metatag as follows:

<meta name="revisit-after" content="1 day" />

I usually place about 20 articles daily. Some in the morning and some late evening.

Is this a good thing to do with search engines like Google?

Please advise.

I've not seen a meta like that since 2002.

I think this sort of thing went out at the same time as manually submitting sites to search engines.

I'd be interested to hear the opinions of others though.

Google ignores such metatags, you can safely throw it away.

You could theoretically shift the information to your sitemap-- assuming you've bothered to make one. There's a <changefreq> line. But even then it's only a suggestion.

Occasionally webmasters needlessly include "revisit-after" to encourage a search engine's crawl schedule, however this meta tag is largely ignored. If you want to give search engines information about changes in your pages, use and submit an XML sitemap. In this file you can specify the last-modified date and the change-frequency of the URLs on your site.
