External Domain CDN Good for SEO?

Have recently started to use an external domain CDN for core images across our different websites. Is this a good thing for SEO, if we have images that are being called from an external domain - I have read a lot about speed increases, but what about pulling the image from another domain?

One small tip:
- you must use the same domain as the site, eg: images.tarquin.com, not images-tarquin.com for CDN.
+ add this new subdomain to google webmastertools.

the OP has a newtwork of domains, Mentat are you suggesting each one of them should serve the core images from a seperate subdomain ... the OP was planning to serve core images from all sites from just one domain i think.

I use a CDN and I use the default name servers they provided, so it's like site.cdncompany.com - I've had no problem for years with that. Mind you I use it just for template files, JS, CSS, PNG, JPG. Are you talking about using the CDN for all image files or just the template images? If template files I doubt it matters for SEO purposes.

I also keep indexed images on the CDN, not only design elements (images, js, css etc), that's why I have the subdomain for my images hosted on the CDN.

If you do not use subdomain, your images will not be indexed.

If you do not need indexed images, no need for subdomains.

Also, CDN is good, if you have a lot of JS, CSS and images on your site/design.
Is good for big sites, not for any site.

Also, a CDN for DNS is recommended if your traffic is from all over the world.
