I thought site health just related to critical issues and anything you get notifications for on WMT (which isn't Penguin).

Penguin is purely algorithmic, so I am pretty sure any ‘unhealthy’ indicators would not be Penguin related.

Good points, we received unnatural link notices days after penguin hit, looks like those notices have expired?

Receiving unnatural link warnings may well be a factor if you have been affected by Penguin – but Google would not use GWT to explicitly notify you that you have been hit by the update, because it is 100% algorithmic.

In our case, a site with Penguin Flu never showed any relocation in WMT's, and stayed in the health order it was always in. However, last week, we used the link disavow tool, and the site immediately moved to the bottom of the list when sorted by health.

jinxed, you were clear, I was backing up what you were saying, penguin probably did not effect the health ranking in wmt, it was likely the unnatural link warning.

This seems like a strange cause and effect, if that's what it was. As if Webmaster Tools didn't know the site's health was poor until you submitted the Disavow list for it. Odd

Yep... We have a total of 8 sites in this WMT account and the site in question was always listed 2-3rd in the list, until we filed the disavow request last week, now its at the bottom of the list.

We only submitted about 30-40 bad links, and we are confident each of them needs to be taken down.

Wow... thats correct. That is a completely useless feature of WMT's.

It is intended for people with loads of sites who need the ones with critical issues (warning messages and such) at the top of the pile so they can try to sort it out.
