3 enquiries but not a single from Google... not a single one !

Had a really busy day referrals wise yesterday, but poor conversions. Today its even worse but traffic appears normal.

So strange, after a great start to the year as well.

This does seem to be the pattern so sit tight for now would be my advice. If it had stuck like it was last week for a while I'd be out of this game after 12 months! Arrghhh. (SERP's, as ever, look totallt normal to me).

Like I stated in a previous post, a single subdomain that was pandalized in Feb 2011, taking a hit of about 50% over the last year. It recovered completely on Feb 19th.

Over the past several months I made changes including removing thin content, removing ads, moved remaining ads down in the content, cut load time by 50%+, made my header shorter, tried to remove any text that appeared too rich in keywords, joined google plus and added their stupid button to my pages, among other things.

Prior to Jan 19th - I really thought I would recover in "the next panda iteration". I was really excited and couldn't wait for it to hit. So when it did I was ecstatic.

Then on Jan 24th I returned back to pandalized levels. So I had a good 5 days of not being pandalized.

Looks like good old Panda cycle of doom, 1. give some more traffic to check usability stats, 2. pandalize if numbers are not good enough

So maybe what they did was rerun of most recent version of panda?

Seems like you might be testing a threshold that can be broken ..... keep pushing on. Good Luck.

In early December Google begin testing in my areas what many are seeing in January. Amazingly it reverted back on about 24-26 December. I thought for sure it would hold during those particular days because of the holidays. It later came back on the same days Reseller reported. Who knows what February will hold.

One thing came to my mind. Google seems to be using two traffic patterns a long term and short term one. Also because of one poster I wonder if this is unfolding in different areas at a time. As for Ohno that’s the $64,000 question. It’s almost like they haven’t recalculated how much quality traffic they’re going to send you with the new rankings. Maybe Google isn’t getting the viewers it once did or people are much more discriminating. All I hear from people anymore is Facebook, Facebook, and Twitter.

I am seeing the same thing with some of my sites. Lots of shuffling. Some lost rankings, some gained. Well I figured it was only a matter of time before Google messed it up again. Ahh you got to love Google. Guess we will see.

I can confirm what Reseller is seeing; there is a lot of movement taking place, some good but some terrible. The strangest part so far is the variance of it: I am seeing a basket of sites that are moving up or down a few positions and then only certain pages of other sites that are getting heavily devalued...the only sites my data shows heavy devaluation on are affiliate sites though.

Wondering what the age of this site/domain is?

Mine is a couple years older but reason I ask is that my team here has been thinking a lot about Panda lately in terms of age discrimination. It's been mentioned in these forums that many of the sites hit by 1.0 were long established sites.

I realize this would be a whole new way to think about age discrimination but could particular elements of Panda be considered a form of it? Is Google practicing age discrimination in the Internet world?

Would love to here other thoughts on this.

Is Google practicing age discrimination in the Internet world?

Not in any legal sense related to age, race, religion, gender, etc.

The only safe thing IMO you can say about Panda is it led to a lot of rewrites of pages on likely millions of sites. Such is the power of Google.

What’s upsettling to me is to see excellent unchanged pages surface at position one through ten when they were previously downgraded to positions 150 through 250 in the rankings. In other words surfacing as they were two years ago. Why did I and many suddenly become oh so deserving? To make a long story short you live at their whim as I always understood the game to be. I work to kill their leverage but Google figures more and more ways to gain even more leverage.

The corollary would be that Panda recoveries are dead as well. Pages can and will go up and down in the rankings due to other algo changes and non-Google issues, but Panda took a large and special bite out of many legitimate websites, and no more Panda cycles would mean no more recoveries, at least without moving the pages elsewhere.

Even if the Panda factors themselves don't change, the fact that Panda gets re-run with new data from time to time can still mean recovery for sites that have made changes.

Yes, I was just responding to the idea that Panda re-runs may be over, something I tend to doubt. But there is no law forcing Google to keep re-running Panda, and I wouldn't put it passed them to move on and the heck with the sites that were collateral damage.

Not at all. The good news is that some people have reported partial recovery of Pandalized sites during this month (January 2012) several non-Panda updates. I.e a Pandalized site doesn't necessary need Panda updates to recover.

I think that the factors of Panda are already integrated in the main ranking algorithms "Panda flavored main ranking algorithm". Therefore the partial recovery of some Pandalized sites which some people have reported on this thread during some of the several non-Panda updates of January 2012. In that connection I wish to mention that it has also been reported that some Pandalized sites got hit again. I.e the current "Panda flavored main ranking algorithm" is affecting Pandalized sites both positively and negatively.

I wish all Pandalized sites a speedy recovery :-)

I think they should work on not to Pandalize a full site be cause they dont like some of the pages, thats simply not up to date algo.

@zeus have to agree with you. From what I understand , to come out of panda, you have to do a 100% fix. If you have a 2000 page site and you make tons of fixes, but still have just a few panda symptom pages laying around, you're still stuck.

But if G evaluated your site for the first te in that condition (much cleaner) you never would have been hit by panda in the first place.

I think some explanation of the timing and processing of machine learning, re scoring and update / data process' needs to be made by someone with the skills to articulate it with better knowledge than me. In conversations with folks it seems fairly well understood amongst the top SEO's.

Some folks may be getting unrealistic expectancies about the time between uploading improvements , Google's response and a site's recovery in best cases , and this might be the case over the last month with the Dec absence of a data refresh / update.

Any takers to help the understanding of the timing process for others needing it?

Timing. I heard a number of SEOs indicate that it takes 2 full panda evaluations to come back. I think this might be google waiting to make sure the changes are here to stay.

I fixed 95% of my problems on one site noindex/robot blocked a number of areas of my site (Early Dec.), but after the last panda refresh, those areas still appear to be indexed. So I'm hoping the SEOs are right with the 2 times a charm concept.
