Panda + SubDomains

Greetings,
We have a site with around 27,000 different articles. The site has seen a drastic decrease in traffic over the past few months. Basically, we are in the same ship as others with Panda, not sure what to do, and continue to lose about 5-10% traffic each week. Site has been live since 1999 and has great links and has been pretty steady over the years.

We are thinking about splitting the site up into many sub domains to try and sort things out. Has anyone been successful with such a move? I noticed that Hubpages is moving towards using sub domains. Just wanted to get opinions if this might help. Basically, if a few articles can bring down the whole site, it is not possible to pinpoint which ones could be causing the problem out of 27,000. Splitting into subdomains would help at least segregate them out.

People in general have not been very successful with ANY steps taken to regain pre-Panda traffic levels. If subdomains make it easier to manage your situation, it might be a smart first step.

Ditto on tedster. I tried subdomains and they seemed to work for about a week. Then I discovered I wasted a week.

wiseapple, IMO, article sites have an even more uphill battle since Google is clearly after them and articles can be better 'read' by Google. If you are going to split the site, maybe put Top articles in one subdomain, so-so ones in another and the rest in another. At least you have a better chance to get a partial recovery.

That said, like Tester and dataguy pointed out, nothing seems to work. They are several guesses as to why

Yes sub-domains worked for while and then lost again. I believe sub-domains will not work for already pandalized site.

Thanks guys. I did have alot of HTML suggestions in Google Webmaster Tools. Fixed them. I guess we will wait a bit and see if fixing them helps out.
