Ramifications of Nofollow Linking to a Banned Site

Assume that a site exists that is considered to be a Bad Neighborhood by Google (the site may be banned from Google). And assume that my site links to that site using the "nofollow" link attribute.

Will my site potentially suffer a penalty from Google for doing this, or will Google ignore this since I used the "nofollow" attribute ?

Thanks in advance.

It's the original purpose of the nofollow attribute - to protect the linking site against nonsense that happens on the other end of the link. I've heard of no problems on that score and I don't expect any, either.

OK, thanks for your feedback on this, Ted.

Devil's Advocate:

--I'm using nofollow because I can't vouch for this link; it was added by a user.

--I'm using nofollow because even though I know it's a bad neighborhood, and I know you know it's a bad neighborhood, I'm linking to it anyway.

Devil's Advocate(2):

I am using nofollow for a reciprocal link exchange, the recipricants are too nieve to realise and link back without nofollow (of course using the link code provided by me ;)
