I think in my case it may be to do with a link profile very much sided towards blogs, so maybe some kind of filter i'm right on the edge of. Why that would affect me almost like clockwork on a two week cycle I can't explain.

I can't speak of your individual site but I do know of major sites I search on - day to day I won't find the same results in google and am actually bookmarking things again.

Something else I noticed - a very popular blog written by a famous politician with an enormous amount of social activity, links, tweets etc hasn't had a post indexed in 9 days. In fact in checking several blogs that are popular, well read and linked....few are being indexed this last week.

Maybe this has something to do with your problem.

Yes, there has been a few blog posts and tweets by bloggers on the slowness in google indexing.

our site is being indexed, google is always on our site... but main domain has apparently vanished for 98% of the terms... it does appear on few terms.... subdomains are performing as before

epmaniac, it may be a problem specific to your site. I am not sure why you don't find your main domain for your key terms as there are many tests happening on google.

I wrote an other topic, but also I thing that I have an index issue. My site drop down for a lot of kws, and if I search using my site domain name as a kw, I see my site in page 3 with another title (not the same title of the site now). The title that shows me, is the domain

Just done a quick look at our site
Old pages - previously well postioned and indexed - no change
New topic main page - indexed but not in the greatest of positions - page links to
New Topic sub pages - indexed but in the depths of the serps, outranked for specific key phrase by the New Topic Main Page - only easily found by including site name.

John I'd say I'm seeing similar things. New pages = bad rankings, old pages are fine.

On the same token if you had an old spammy blog with keyword anchor text to your parent site you are now number one.

Cheat now = bad
Cheat six months ago = goldmine

The problem is with listing of the pages, google is actually "visiting" each page they're just not indexing the actual page for whatever reason. Somehow there's a disconnect between what the bot sees and what it's integrating into the results. Someone posted a test on one blog I read (and or course when I just went looking for it again it's not in the SERPS!) but he linked to a dummy page on a site and google pinger the dummy page instantly when the blog post hit. So it's seeing pages it's just not indexing them.

Traffic seems to have just turned off at around 9 am this morning - not one sale all day. (it's now 11pm) Another case of Zombie traffic.

I just wanted to provide a short update. This issue should be resolved soon, but it will take a several days for everything to catch up and for these changes to be visible. I'll provide another update after the weekend.

In the meantime, there's no need to make any changes on your side. Content from your sites will continue to be indexed during this time (though perhaps at the moment not as quickly as before in some cases).

This is on a Google support thread discussing blog links not getting indexed. It may or may not also relate to other types of indexing issues some are observing.

As John Mu stated, you don't have to change anything at your end.

The problem is something else at google's end and nothing to do with canonical urls. Yesterday I was following that thread and i even noticed a few people reporting feedburner urls to be the root of the problem.Sometimes people make crappy guesses when they panick.So don't keep changing things around and leave it as it is.

There just seem to be a delay in serving the indexed posts on the serps.

Here we go again! As of Saturday 10/22/2010 at about 10am CST, my conversions dropped to zero. Traffic is still there with 1600 unique visitors that day. How can we be getting traffic and conversion drop so drastically? The quality or source of our visitors has got to be what has changed. No sales yet today.
This follows the same type of drop offs in May and early September and is WAY off our baseline sales. We had pretty much recovered over the last six weeks. A direct competitor who usually does 1/10th our sales is now doing 10 x our sales. No apparent shift of SERP positions. OHNO, how's it going in the UK?

Backdraft7-DEAD! One sale at 10:19am & that is IT! SERP's look fine, traffic is well down on normal Satudays-up to 40% down going back 4 weeks.

@OHNO - Strangely enough that's good news because this is the third time this year that we've experienced a drastic drop in sales. Traffic levels remain the same, SERP's look the same to me, but conversions just disappear. This has got to be a traffic quality issue. Like I always say, it's Zombie traffic.
Since it's happened twice before and recovered, I guess I'll just sit back, tighten the financial belt and wait for things to get better. Hope things pick up for you soon!

Our traffic was up/normal yesterday but conversions poor. I do think they have some way of sending higher vs lower quality traffic. Like many of you we are back to garbage traffic.

I love my serps to give me audio alerts btw, like the GPS in my car.

I've also been hearing about significant ranking changes over the past 24-48 hours, including both big winners and big losers. I'd say the holiday algorithm changes are beginning to roll out, but the way the roll-out process is looking has been different than previous years.

Link building: none. I don't do any. Domain is eight years old and has long established links.

Can you explain "re-ranking" penalty? How do I tell?

I recently took a hit to 2 of my sites, both went to around #350 in the serps.

One had been on first page for key term for over a year.

Is there a -350 penalty seems pretty unusual for both sites to go to around the same place and stick there.
