This was done following feedback from Google.
Today I have checked the site for a third time and submitted a Reconsideration Request through Webmaster Tools.
I wanted to ask if anyone else has experience of this process - timeframe, response, reinclusion in the search index?
Reconsideration requests - anyone with experience? [webmasterworld.com]

You will likely find others via a site search [webmasterworld.com]
Most likely you will not get a response to your reconsideration request, although it will be read by someone at Google, so choose your wording carefully, and ensure your site will pass a strict manual review. I've never filed a request, so I don't have any first hand experience to pass on, I'm afraid.
how did you get feedback from Google about your links page
I posted in detail on Google Groups about the problem I had been experiencing and received a reply from John Mueller at Google.
I have spent the best part of today composing and submitting my Reconsideration Request.
