I've had that occasionally happen when they have told me I needed to re-verify a site, by adding their code to a meta tag or uploading a specially named html page. In my experience, the "busy" message has gone away fairly quickly (sometimes within minutes, sometimes longer).

(BTW, I'm not sure why I have needed to re-verify, as the code was already in place. But hey, I just follow directions, and it does seem to clear up either immediately or eventually)...

The verification file is on each of the websites already. Do i have to delete those and upload them again? It says i am the verified owner in webmaster tools currently.

The error message you are getting may not be related to verification. When you log into your GWT account, if there is a checkmark under "Verified?", then you shouldn't have to do anything. My concern about your original post is that it has apparently been several days that you are getting the same message -- for me, it doesn't generally last that long.

BTW, when you say you have tried with different computers, are they computers on your network, or somewhere else? (such as a friends or at the library)

I ask because for me Norton Firewall often creates weird situations that requires me to temporarily turn it off. That's probably not an issue with you, but when you're grasping at straws, it may be worth trying.

I was just about to ask here if anyone else had this problem.

My situation is identical. Click on 'pages with external/internal links' select a number to see the back links, long pause, 'Our system is currently busy. Please try again in a few minutes.'

This has been like this for at least the last two days for me also.

I have checked to see if the site is still verified, and the tick is still there.

I have had the same problem - for 3 days I think.

Reno, thanks for the suggestions. I did log in from another ip and still no joy.

I have posted on google groups but no answer. I did notice a couple of other posts reporting this there so perhaps its just a subset of users that are affected. Perhaps more will start noticing this problem as they go to check their links. It's probably not something they do every day.

Not sure how to get Google's attention other than google groups. Will let you know if i get a reply.

Hey buddies don't take tensions. As they must be updating their systems. So after completing their process, you can view them again. So just wait & watch regularly.

Same thing has been happening with me too. For a few days now. I think after Saturday's maintenance things have been acting funky but glad to hear I am not the only one.

Yea, it's the same here today (24 Oct 07). Says system is busy, check back later for days now.

Just to let you know that a Google rep. posted in google groups that they are aware of the problem and looking into it. No estimate on when it might be fixed.

Considering the number of engineers they must have, they don't seem to be very good at spotting these problems before we do (or if they are, then letting us know!) or being able to give an ETA for it being fixed!

I'm seeing zero links in my Google Webmaster tools (there used to be thousands). Is anyone else suffering from this?
