How Does Google Treat Dupe News Articles and their Links?

Same Article Appears on 40+ TV station sites

I just got a great mention of my site on an article written by a major TV sttaion owner. As is custom, that article has been already posted on over 40-50 local station sites and I assume Google will eventually find them. Question: how does the dupe issue effect google giving me credit? The articles are identical but I am not sure how the templates or their presumed trust factor will effect them.

any idea?

Just checked...over 80 TV station websites have added that article, and so far none are supplementals so I don't know. I hope it stays that way.

Initally they will all be indexed.
Then some will fall out of google entirely, many will be go supplemental.
Then all will drop to low pr, as the page goes to the end of the tv stations back pages index.

that's exactly what happened :)

Those stations don't have good sitemaps either so only other sites that link to them will help as far as PR transfer /keeping the pages indexed. Oh well, at least I didn't pay anything, and I hope the writer remembers the site for the next story.

I just found out that another article mentioned me...and it appears on the same stations. Yet, those pages are supplementals since they have no internal links. I feel that is so stupid of the stations to begin with--imagine the free traffic /page views they are missing--but it's hurting me :-)

Should I link to them or do I risk a link scheme label?

I did send two emails to their sales and web team a while back but apparently they don't care. It's crazy. I even suggsted how to do it, while saying that I am not selling anything. Oh well.

Some people just aren't willing to help themselves, even when that help is freely offered. Sad, but true.
